Arctic is under my skin.I love that land. Elevation Pictures is coming out with a new film titled ARCTIC featuring Mads Mikkelsen and we're very excited for the film to open in theatres in Ottawa!! A man stranded in the Arctic after an airplane crash and must decide whether to remain in the relative safety of his makeshift camp or to embark on a deadly trek through the unknown in hopes of making it out alive....ARCTIC opens this Friday, March 1, 2019 @ElevationPics @taropr @ArcticMovie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ac9vU1z-wa8&feature=youtu.be ***

Stainless steel tube is machined from hypodermic tubing to round lip on the tip and 82 degree taper on entry side. It is then hand polished to 5 micron finish. It is recommended for the finest threads. Pete Gray captivated that finish so well.

Chars Coppermine River Nunavut Canada. Year of Planty- 1998 was warmest summer in the Arctic to date. At "My Camp" in Honey Hole pool where Melville Creek meets Coppermine River, chars were stucked up, unable to enter the Melville Creek, which was very low and warmed up by rocks exposed to 29 hrs of sunlight per day. It was like that all the way to Plane Crash pool some 3.5 km downstream. I took my wetsuit and snorkel mask and went "dancing with the chars". Best fish related... experience I had. It is described in the article "Faruk of the North" ( see page Articles on my website), under July 21 of my journals. They permited me to touch them and did not scater. After that dance, fishing is different for me. Respect towards the fish and it's well being outways all else. It is then, that I started to practise volontary quota of landed fish and "Touch & Releise" after that with brocken hooks of the flies. Chaars See more

Minimizing was necessity for my fishing trips to the Arctic due to load restriction on Bush planes and portaging. That slowly became an obsession so I started to analyze all of my gear. Downsizing and eliminating gadgets resulted in ultimate fly box. Ever since C&F Design boxes came out they became my standard and I have couple of dozens of inserts for two sizes arranged in storage system boxes. But, it was not optimized and I came up with design that would use C$F Design’s... inserts for their small box. My love of Canadian birds eye maple wood and artistic work of Benoit, was my choice. After one season of testing my first prototype I have revised it and finally received the first production peace yesterday. Solid birds eye maple with marine type varnish, with 3 spools from African Blackwood held in with brass post and stainless steel screws, makes it water and rust proof. C&F inserts fit easily in grooved walls of the box leaving enough room for my modified Hatch clipper fitted with diamond file for hooks and stainless double end carabiner for hanging it to button hole of a shirt while fishing. Box fits in standard shirt pocket. Will field test it next month in British Columbia. To quote Horace Kephart again: The simpler the outfit, the more skill it takes to ménage it, and more pleasure one gets in his achievement. CHARS See more
