Last week in my stories on Instagram I mentioned that I missed a pretty big anniversary this spring. Some followers had great guesses and some very entertaining guesses. It has taken me a week to share this because I couldn’t find an appropriate photo from that long ago. I have plenty of before and after photos of clients but I wanted something better. I reached out to a client to see if she had something from almost that long ago and Sue came through with a photo of herself ...being the badass that she is with me coaching on the sidelines! 10 years ago in the spring of 2009 I finished up my first set of certifications while living in Melbourne, Australia and began my journey as a personal trainer. For 10 YEARS! I have had the privilege of influencing clients to lead healthier lives through movement, mindset, time management, nutrition and gratitude. My job literally fills my heart everyday. How cool is it to say that?! Personal trainers unfortunately have a 5 year average in the industry before they move on or go back to something that makes them more money and gives them better hours. I am proud to say that I am still in it! My business has evolved over the years. I have worked for big box gyms, small family gyms and in the end built a successful referral based business that I have now mostly moved online and have chosen to scale back while I spend a little extra time doing this mom gig. I know my fit pro friends will be wondering what my secret is and I will tell you. Do good work, continue your education, be a good person and your client list will grow without much advertising work your clients will do it for you. My gratitude for reaching this milestone is without measure. I have so many mentors to thank from my life as a whole. I want to thank my now hubby(he hasn’t been around as my partner for the full 10 years but close to it) for putting up with my crazy hours in the early days and always being there when I ditch him with the kids so I can work. My biggest thank you goes out to all of my great clients current and past. Without you crushing your goals and challenging me to be my best I never would of been able to continue. There are 100’s of you that I have had the privilege of working with over the years and I am just so grateful that each and everyone of you let me have an impact on your life.

I do not post on this page because no one ever sees it due to FB algorithms. Now FB has been sending me daily notifications for a few months telling me to post because you all want to hear from me. I truly believe that continued education is the key to success especially in every industry that has anything to do with the human body. Research has come a long way and all of us professionals have to keep up! I am happy to add this certification of knowledge to my repertoire. Body by persistence has become the company motto over the last year and I love it for so many reasons. Sue van Steenoven is a shining example of this. Her strong active body is built by persistence. There are injuries and many life obstacles but she chooses to accept inperfection as part of life and builds her body by maintaining persistent effort through all the ups and downs. Sue!
