During the past year there have been many people who have added a dog or a puppy to thier household. Many folks have turned to buying a dog or puppy as adoptabl...e canines have become fewer in number in the Lower Mainland. Unfortunately with the growing interest in a canine companion, there seems to be an increase of cases where purchases have been made from backyard breeders, scammers and/ or puppy mills. Often buying a dog or puppy from these sellers can lead to heartache down the road for the new owner. The following quick guide may help in making the important decision of who to purchase a dog or puppy from. #elderdogvancouver #elderdogcanada #lovedogs #dogs #companion #pets #shopping

Remember this beautiful girl? Lucky Molly came to Central Nova in 2019 and was quickly adopted by Debbie and Tim and their two children. Debbie says she is the best and has fit in perfectly with their family. It’s like she’s been with them forever. Molly loves the attention and being serenaded by her human sister. This sweet 4-year old has a beautiful voice. We hope you enjoy her rendition of Frosty the Snowman as much as Molly does.

WILLOW Say hello to Willow. She is an 11-year-old Cocker Spaniel, weighing in at about 13.9kg, spayed and UTD with shots. Health and Diet Willows last check up ...was August 17, 2020. Willow is coming to us with some pre-existing conditions, one is urinary incontinence (well under control with medicine), and she is on Propalin 30ml x 3 per day. She has a cruciate ligament injury (right back leg) and is on gabapentin when needed. Due to Willows cruciate injury, she cannot walk extremely far anymore and needs to be lifted on to couches beds chairs etc. There is also a cyst under her right front armpit, but it has been deemed of no concern. Willow has no food allergies or sensitivities; she eats pedigree beef vitality twice each day once in the morning at once at 4:30 She also gets about a Cooked yam at lunch timeHer favorite treat! Behaviour and Temperament Willow is not a big fan of other dogs and will bark and pull. She has not been around cats much and does back off, nor does she bark or chase them. she loves people and appears to be very tolerant of kids but has had limited exposure. Willow has snapped at folks when being handled, for example, looking into her ears, wiping her face and eyes, giving meds. She also tends to be cranky when being woken up or startled. This is easily avoided by calling her name to wake her and then putting your hand on her after she sees you. That all being said, she is an extremely sweet and gentle senior gal and quite enjoys the company of people. Dogs Personality Willow is housetrained and sleeps through the night between her last walk at 7.30/8pm and morning walk at 6.45am Willow has rarely been left alone, as her previous companions were retired. She is not at all destructive and has never had an accident. Willow has several toys but seems to be playing less and less, perhaps due to her age. What she really loves to do is curl up amongst her toys and napshe is not much of a ball chaser. She like stealing paper, tissue etc. and holding it for ransomShe will gladly release when presented with a treat. Willow does not require a tonne of exercise these days, especially due to her cruciate injury, it is more to go out and do her business and back home. She is not sensitive or reactive to loud noises, traffic, or extreme weather conditions. She does not have a strong prey drive per se, but rabbitsWell now, that’s a whole different story, she can pick them out from anywhere. preferences and routines Willow's favorite treatsShe loves anything and everything especially sweet potato or any packaged treats. Willow has several toys but not extremely interested. Most of Willow's time is spent sleeping or cuddling. Willow can sleep anywhere but tends to favour her own bed. She does pull when she is out walking at the beginning and then settles in and has been getting much better being out so frequently (x4 a day). She travels well in a car, although she will pant and she travels free in the car, not in a crate. Willow will tolerate the groomer/nails clipped (groomed every couple of months) and is good with general handling apart from touching her face to clean or her hind legs (injury). She is not a big belly-rubber but absolutely loves being scratched under her ears. General Willow is a pretty easy little dog but does have some foibles, all of which can be worked with and around. Willow absolutely LOVES people and will wag her Whole body when she meets you. While her to exposure to children has been limited, she appears to be good and gentle with them. She is not thrilled to meet dogs and she is a bit pulley and barky at times and when she sees rabbits, she tries to run after them. Because she is hard of hearing, if you inadvertently sneak up on her to touch her, she will attempt to scramble. She has the sweetest habit of when she wants attention, she will paw at you or paw at the couch/chair you are sitting in until you pet her and if you have not given her enough attention, she will paw at you some more. Once she has had her fill, she will walk away in lie down. Remember, she loves her biscuits and will do most anything for them. Her foster mum gives her a biscuit as a reward when giving her medicine. If interested is sweet Willow please email Kim at [email protected]
