Look at sweet Gibson! He is in HRM and looking for his furever home!
A Sunday Happy Tails Post! I'm sure you all remember Louis who came to ElderDog Canada Inc a few months ago He hit the doggy lotto with his forever foster family! Louis and his foster brother Ace play and lounge around together. His foster mom makes the best homemade dog cookies and his foster dad plays with Louis and Ace they have so much fun together! Louis and Ace go on most amazing adventures walking a little further everyday! Louis is definitely fitting in well with his new family. What a great doggone life!! Happy Tails Louis! We can't wait to hear about your progress
Thank you to #CBC Information Morning in #NovaScotia with Louise Renault and Portia Clark for including #elderdogcanada in their program Healthcare Hacks # 99: ...When you need health care, where do you turn for your pets. This is part of an important conversation about #seniors and #SeniorsHealth including mental health. For too many years when someone needed health care, they had to surrender their dog if they didn't have someone who could help. #elderdogcanada seeks to change that and give #seniors the ability to be reunited with their dogs after a crisis where at all possible. First aired Feb. 23rd of this year #ElderDog is mentioned starting at the 4.46 minute mark. Enjoy!
Oh my !! Let's find Casar is retirement home! If I didn't have stairs I would scoop him up!!
This handsome fella Sidney is looking for his furever home! He is currently in Truro, NS.
Take a read (and share) in case you can help these 2 handsome seniors.
"Happy Howlidays" to all our CBRM pawd pupsters, their families and to all our volunteers and Facebook friends! Warm wishes for a safe and healthy holiday season and new year!
Meet Cosmo! He’s a two year old Toy Maltese, originally from PEI and calls Dominion his own. He’s very excited and incredibly adorable !!! If you are interested in dog walking, assisting the elderly and their pups give us a message. If you know of anyone who could use our services let us know
Anyone driving in this direction?
Just look at that sweet face! Lola is looking for her furever home.
Feel free to share! We look forward to hearing from you (the doggos look forward to meeting you too!!) :)
Great way to support a local business and get some tasty treats for your pupster!
Ladies, there’s a handsome and charming new furry fella in town! We are THRILLED to celebrate our first adoption! Oh the power of our Elderdog Pawds near and far!! Tux was living in Dartmouth and needed a new home. Thanks to Sara, the Elderdog Rehoming Coordinator, and Tessa who volunteered to drive Tux to Sydney (and not charge him gas money ), Tux is now settling in with his new mom, Isobel and getting to know his new sibling, Nelly the cat. Tux is partially sighted and diabetic but that doesn’t stop him from loving belly rubs and making everyone laugh. So proud of our Elderdog network and volunteers! Welcome to Cape Breton Tux!!!
"Did someone say walk??" Bailey is ready to enjoy a walk with one of our great volunteers! Thanks to Annezita for sharing this photo.
A different perspective on #2020. I know for many of us at #elderdogcanada, among the hard this year continues to bring, spending a huge amount of time with our dog(s) has been a very happy highlight.
Elderdog "Prince" is reminding you not to walk your canine pals in middle of the day during these hot dog days of summer. May be a better idea to hit the beach for a swim instead!
Sun's out Tongues out!! This is Sweetie stopping to enjoy the view on his walk with Elderdog volunteer Anne Zita. *Don't worry Sweetie wasn't out strolling in the heat of the day!
I’m a 1. Lol.
Look at this gorgeous lady! Meet Jennie, a 14 year old lab mix. She is the 7th pup in our pawd. Jennie is pretty shy but we give her a few walks and she will agree that we are pretty cool to hang out with! Welcome sweet Jennie! Photo credit: pawd volunteer, Anne Zita
Did you know that Elderdog can help with re-homing a pooch who's owner may no longer be able to care for their canine BFF or if their living situation changes? Fostering and adoption services are available through our Re-homing Coordinators. If you are interested in being a foster please feel free to fill out and submit an application in the link below: http://www.elderdog.ca/Progra/LongTermCareforOlderDogs.aspx
Did you know Elderdog Cape Breton currently has 6 dogs on our service ? We were the first Pawd in Canada that started with dogs to watch. All because of our amazing volunteers. It’s easy to volunteer!! And there’s no pressure. Whatever time you can give, is more than appreciated !! For more information email [email protected]. You can visit the website elderdog.ca or call 1-855EDOGCAN. We are looking for volunteers to join our amazing team. Spread the word
Sharing from the Elderdog pawd in Fredericton.....if anyone is looking for a dog!
Check out those sweeping bangs! This is Maury and he loves his Elderdog walks. Just remember, on these hot days it is best to get your pups out early in the morning or in the evening when it is a bit cooler. Also, not a bad idea to bring some water along with you. We have gone from 2 to 5 barking clients and their lovely human owners. Pictured here is "Sweetie" our sweetie gentle giant from Glace Bay. If you know someone that has a canine BFF who would benefit from some walks, please let us know. Photos courtesy of Heather Kerr
We reached over 200 "likes" in a week! Thank you all so much. Here is an attempt at a selfie with this mop top, Mr. Baillie on a walk a few days ago...... If you know a senior that would be interested in Elderdog services and learning more of what we can do to help here is a helpful link: http://www.elderdog.ca/Progra/DogCareSupportforSeniors.aspx
This is Lucky. Lucky gets one walk every second day (decided by his owner) by Elderdog CBRM volunteers. If you know a senior that has mobility issues and finds it hard to get their dogs out for exercise - we can help! All volunteers come wearing and ID badge and will keep physical distancing in line with public health protocols. (Photo Credit to volunteer Shauna W.)
We at Elderdog CBRM are a team of volunteers as part of a national organization that are available to help keep the seniors in our communities with their canine best friends home together as long as possible. We can also help with rehoming if a senior is no longer able to care for their dog or has to move. Our mission is to honour and preserve the human-animal bond through care, companionship, education, and research. We do this through programs that include: - help for seni...ors with daily dog care activities - foster care and adoption of older dogs - long-term care planning for companion dogs - volunteering - education and research opportunities See more
Thank you Heather Kerr for this great idea to start a "pawd" here in CBRM. https://www.capebretonpost.com//glace-bay-woman-starting-/
