ElderDog PEI Happy Adoption Alert! Sweet, energetic, playful Brandi is settling into her new home! She's a 10-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix who had to leave her home and needed a great place to start her next adventure. Heather and Norman were there to welcome her into her new home. Happy adoption Brandi and thank you Heather and Norman for giving this sweetheart her new home! If you think you would be a great place for a senior dog to start over please contac...t ElderDog PEI at [email protected] and we will get an application to you. When a dog becomes available at ElderDog we first go through our pre-approved applications looking for a great match before we advertise publicly. #elderdogcanada See more

UPDATE!!! A message from ElderDog PEI Volunteer and Rehoming Coordinator, Doug: Louis, our loveable Great Dane, has found a new foster home where he will receive all the care this big boy needs.... I would like to thank this wonderful ElderDog community for all the interest in Louis. I am still answering emails about Louis and I encourage you to follow through with completing the foster applications so we have you on file. We always go to our approved applications before we go public with a dog. Thank you for your support of ElderDog and the wonderful community we serve. Doug - ElderDog PEI Rehoming Coordinator. CALL FOR FOSTER HOME: Big beautiful 9 year-young Louis is settling into life on PEI but we've discovered he has more "get up and go" than we originally anticipated so while we continue his intake assessment, we're looking for a new foster home experienced in the care of a large breed dog -- including comfort-level with on-leash walks and enough indoor space to accommodate his need for indoor play as well. A few stairs are ok, but they're not Louis' favourite. What he does love is his stuffed cow toy, which accompanies him on most of his well-deserved naps! He's also rediscovering his appetite and working on putting some pounds on to get him back to his ideal weight. He loves the car too. If you think your home might be the right fit for this gentle giant while we continue his care, please get in touch with ElderDog PEI Rehoming Coordinator Doug at: [email protected] who can tell you more about Louis and his current medical status which we are monitoring. All food and medical supplies are provided to ElderDog fosters.

A beautiful story about giving back to one who has given so much.

ElderDog PEI is pleased to have facilitated the first rehoming placement for all of Canada in 2021! Louis is a nine-year-old Great Dane who worked his way to PEI all the way from Cape Breton today. He is a little tired but glad to be with Lita and John in his new foster home. Louis is a gentle giant who has taken to everyone along his long journey to the Island. We need to thank ElderDog in Cape Breton and Central Nova for making the logistics work for his rides from Cape Br...eton to PEI. Not an easy task with all the travel restrictions. Louis is currently on a medical hold while we address some of his medical issues. IN THE MEANTIME, we are still seeking applications from potential foster homes on PEI. If you'd like to learn more, please email ElderDog PEI volunteer Doug, our Rehoming Coordinator at [email protected]. If it's not the right fit for you right now, please feel free to share this post! #elderdogcanada #elderdogcentralnova #elderdogcapebreton

SOPHIE IS ADOPTED! It’s only been five days but this sweet little poodle is settling into her new home beautifully. She’s relaxing more with each new day. Alre...ady she’s Daddy’s little girl and rushes to the door to greet him when he comes home from work. 13-year old Minnie loves having a little sister to play with and crash after a long day. Sophie’s smile says it all. Thank you Angela and Rob for giving Sophie a loving home in her senior years. See more

Happy National Dog Day!!! Founded in 2004 by Animal Welfare Advocate and Pet Lifestyle Expert, Colleen Paige, National Dog Day celebrates all breeds, mixed and pure and serves to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of dogs that need to be rescued each year, either from public shelters, rescues and pure breed rescues. National Dog Day honours family dogs and dogs that work selflessly to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort. Dogs put their lives on the line every day - protecting our families and homes, for their law enforcement partner, for their blind companion, for the disabled, for our freedom and safety by detecting bombs and drugs and helping to locate and rescue victims of accidents and tragedy. https://vimeo.com/445462691 #nationaldogday #elderdogcanada

Today we honour and remember Charlie. He was a beautiful cocker spaniel that came into our care in May 2017. He was 12 at the time, and an absolutely darling ...gentle soul. Charlie was so loved for all of his life, and came to us only because his companion passed away. We were fortunate to find him a good home very quickly. He settled in with them immediately and became "their boy". Once again he was totally adored. He has crossed the rainbow bridge, and we wish him a peaceful journey. Our heartfelt condolences to all those who loved him. #elderdogcanada

Thanks to ED PEI volunteer Rehoming Coordinator Doug for representing our Pawd and attending the recent Annual Butterfly Release hosted by ElderDog Canada Inc at the magnificent ElderDog Land site in Feltzen, NS. We have had to say goodbye to many of our four-legged friends, but we cherish the memories of each one and find cheer in the work we do for those in the community who need us! Click on this link to learn more about how you can get involved too! www.elderdog.ca

Booty is a an adorable little dog. Our ElderDog volunteers have been providing support to her companion by taking Booty for daily walks. Sadly her companion b...ecame unwell and had to give up sweet Booty. One of our volunteers offered to foster her until we were able to get a wellness check and find her a new home. The two of them became quite attached to each other during this time, so what do you think happened? Booty is staying where she is! Emily has officially adopted her, and will give her the absolute best life ever! Below are pictures of Booty and Emily at the Butterfly release. We are so happy for Booty and Emily. #elderdogcanada
