Elect Cyril MacDonald, District 3

Thank you so much Rebecca for the opportunity to go for a drive and talk about District 3. This will serve as the first glimpse of my platform and what exactly I stand for If you like what youve heard, consider sharing with your friends :) Its a lengthy video, but it encompasses many of the areas of work Ill be focusing on if elected

Over the last couple weeks, Ive heard the question, who is this Cyril MacDonald? Well, here it is... Please consider sharing this for everyone to learn who I am My name is Cyril MacDonald. I am 26 years old, originally from Blacketts Lake and now hang my hat on the Northside. I recently got engaged to my amazing partner, Kailin, and we are raising our two beautiful little girls, Zoey and Quinnleigh. I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Cape Breton Univ...ersity, which has opened so many doors for me as a young person, and allowed me to fully develop as a young professional. Over the years, I have gained much experience, having worked in recruitment, working with persons with disabilities, and most recently I work in sport. I have been fortunate to be able to live and work in Cape Breton my whole life. The rumour is true, I dont reside in District 3, but I am from the district. District 3 is quite vast and diverse, and I believe I share an unbiased opinion on which community is worthy of most of my attention. I believe in equality for all, and promise to spread my time amongst all communities and answer all calls. Over the last 12 years, Ive given 1000s of hours to the CBRM, by way of volunteer hours. From volunteering in my parish, to coaching Special Olympic athletes locally, provincially and nationally, sitting on boards, coordinating volunteers for local and national events as well as volunteering for events, I am well versed on the island, and have formed a strong network of friends and community. In 2017 I was awarded Special Olympics Male Coach of the Year for Nova Scotia, as well as Canada. I was also awarded a key to the city in 2017. I was the recipient of the Campy Crawford Award in 2018, as well as the Paul Harris Fellowship award, and the Marion Matheson award. Cape Breton is where I choose to live, not because it has everything, but because it has everything my family and I need. If you want to know more about me, I welcome the call. Yesterday was the annual Show and Shine, supported by the Grand Narrows Waterfront Development Society. It was a beautiful day to be near the water and see all the antique cars. My family and I spent part of the afternoon there, talking to residents, and of course, we couldnt leave without getting ice cream from the Wheelhouse. Where will the campaign trail lead us next?

This Sunday brings us back to Grand Narrows... Come say hi, from a distance of course!

After a day of pounding signs into the ground, Im curious. What would you like to see addressed in this falls election? Im running for you, and that means I want to hear from you! Tell me whats lacking, tell me what our communities in District 3 need. Im here to listen and talk, and work for you! Always available by phone, call or text, 902-217-3334! Is it right to rent a shake to a student at a high price to them? Shouldnt there be a standard or law in place?

Its been 4 years, and Im proud to say, Im back, and Ill be seeking office as the Councillor for District 3! Please help spread the word! Lots has changed for me in 4 years, and only for the best! A HUGE thanks to our amazing Power crews who have worked tirelessly to ensure many of us get back on the grid.... Many of our friends and neighbours are still without and have been effected greatly by this terrible storm. Please offer what you have, and know that any thing I can do to offer my support, I will do so. I must also recognize the tremendous work of our firefighters who have been on the streets for now 3 days, pumping basements and helping so many in need. I cant even begin to wonder what these amazing men and women could do with proper funding and proper training. Thank you from my family, to the 600+ of you and your families. Please join me in thanking them, and please join me in the fight for proper equipment, proper funding, and proper training for these outstanding men and women! We truly are Cape Breton Strong!

Wow, Just over $40,000 raised by our paddlers this year in the 9th Cape Breton Dragon Boat Festival! Craig Varnes and I took over the reigns after a year off, with a new, fresh committee ready to work. Together, we had a successful day, and raised a ton of money for Hospital Foundation. I took some time out of the campaign trail to present the cheque, alongside Craig, and even stuck around to work the bucket brigade! Thank you to all those who gave! I am invested in this Island, and invested in you, the people of the CBRM! On October 15th, make your voice heard, and get out to vote!!
