Feel good moment, one of many.
When I started as a Councillor, my goal was to work with the residents and act on their concerns. Four years ago, I wanted to reduce speeds in Glen Allan and help individuals feel safe in their community. We held open houses to receive feedback, formed resident focus groups, came up with a plan and implemented it. Council also voted to see speeds reduced to 40 km/h by the end of the project, with an expected completion date of 2018. The schools and local area residents have p...rovided positive feedback on the work completed to date. A little over a year ago, I was approached with a petition signed by over 100 residents in Charlton Heights asking that something be done about speed in their area. Open Houses were held and, based on those conversations, a plan was implemented including additional safety features for the area that will reduce speeds but not interrupt the consistent flow of traffic. I'm happy to announce that as of September 5, 2017 Council unanimously supported a motion to have administration create a report on opportunities to implement traffic calming measures on Crimson Drive in the Lakeland Ridge area. I sited several reasons which focused on enforcement, outcomes, community- based initiatives and resident feedback as motivation for the possible changes to this area. I have prided myself on being a proactive and responsive Councillor advocating for needed upgrades to Glen Allan Rec Complex, implementing the Mature Neighborhood Strategy or creating social initiatives like Food4Food. I have been consistent in my efforts to make Ward 2 and our community as a whole, a better place to live. I listen to you the resident, I act on the information I receive to find solutions and then put them in motion. See more
Working with our youth and mentoring them to be the future leaders of our community is so important to me. As the former council representative to the Youth Advisory Committee and as a Crisis Worker that worked with youth for over 10 years, I know how important it is to reach out to young people and work with them towards their goals in our community!
Peter is one of the most incredible men I have ever met in my life. This man has so much integrity and character I could only dream to be in the same league as him. I cant begin to describe how humbled I am to have his trust, faith and support moving forward in the next 4 years. Thank you Peter for your kind words.
