This announcement is to inform the student body that Alexis Zhou, candidate for AUS President, made an unauthorized post on "Bilingual Memes for Azure Oriented Teens", a non-McGill affiliated group. It further implied that Elections AUS approved of the content being circulated on the page. Elections AUS *did not* approve this campaign material for use on this page. It is in clear violation of the bylaws forbidding unsolicited campaigning. As such, Alexis' campaign has been i...ssued 12 demerits for violating General Election Bylaw 5.11 and election guidelines found in Appendix A. http://ausmcgill.com//Appendix-2-General-Electoral-Bylaws-

*CONCERNING DEPARTMENTAL ELECTIONS* I know you all have had questions about how to proceed with departmental elections given the hectic circumstances that have ensued the last few days. This post is to clarify how departments should go about this process. First off, we will be continuing with departmental elections in the same time frame as was originally scheduled; that is:... Nomination Period : Monday, March 16, 9am ~ Friday, March 20 Campaign Period : Wednesday, March 25, 9am ~ Tuesday, March 31 Polling Period : Wednesday, April 1 ~ Friday, April 3 Results Announced : Friday, April 3 @ 5PM Due to the closure of university facilities as well as the exodus of many students from campus, we will be suspending the requirements for in-person signatures. That is, the nomination period should exist totally online - signatures to be gathered virtually only in order to gain nominations. The campaign period will also continue online only. There should be no in-person gathering of signatures and absolutely no in-person campaigning due to the closure of the university. Additionally, all polling should be online. Any department that has said they will run their election through Elections AUS was already planned to have their election take place on line and so no changes need to be made there. However, if you are running your election independently, please make sure that it is done so online - there can be no in-person voting as some departments have done in the past. We realize this may all be a bit confusing. If your departmental constitutions prohibit the conduction of online elections or nominations and you need to change your constitution ASAP to allow for this, please email the AUS president at [email protected] and he can help you with that. As far as the procedure for continuing with the elections if you are doing so through Elections AUS, departments should have received an email a few days ago detailing how you should be in contact with us for candidates' information, etc. Please reference that email and note there will be no significant changes to the polling. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with further questions to: [email protected] .
