Generally the months in which we change our clocks is a good time to remember to test these devices and change batteries in them if required. Most smoke alarms and combination smoke/CO detectors have a life span of maximum ten years, some CO detectors only seven years. After that there can be no guarantee the device will protect you. IS IT WORTH IGNORING? Daylight Savings Time was a few weeks ago now but how many of you actually changed batteries in or tested your smoke and CO alarms? The time change is a good reminder to do so. Smoke alarms have a life of either 7 or 10 years depending on the manufacturer and age of manufacture. Most will have a "CHANGE BY 20**" sticker on the outside edge so GO NOW and check yours. There are combination smoke / CO detectors that can be installed reducing the n...eed to have two different types of detectors installed. Also the fire code changed a little while ago requiring an interconnected smoke detector on all floors, within 5 meters of bedrooms and in bedrooms. Hey Friends, A good service electrician can be really hard to find. Selfishly speaking if you do not mind, please share this post or keep me in mind. The biggest reason is I see way too many safety infractions because of consumers looking for the cheapest electrician they can find vs. high quality, code compliant and safe electrical work. You really do get what you pay for.
