The giant Pacific octopus (Enteroctopus dofleini, formerly also Octopus apollyon), also known as the North Pacific giant octopus, is a large marine cephalopod belonging to the genus Enteroctopus. It can be found from the intertidal zone down to 2,000 m (6,600 ft), and is best adapted to cold, oxygen-rich water. The pacific spiny lumpsucker is a globular shaped fish that typically measures 1 to 3 inches (2.5 to 7.6 cm) in length, with a maximum known length of around 7 inches (18 cm). The body of the fish is covered in cone-shaped plates, called tubercules. Females are dull green in color, while males are dull orange to reddish brown. The pacific spiny lumpsucker's pelvic fins have evolved into a large suction cup, allowing it to attach to surfaces. Pacific spiny lumpsuckers are most commonly found attached to solid objects and are ineffective swimmers.
