It’s the beginning of the Chinese Lunar New Year, a celebration that lasts 16 days (although the only first 7 days are considered a public holiday!) Normally one of the most travelled times for people to spend time with families, the pandemic has made quite the impact but we love seeing the new ways people are celebrating the Year of the Ox. #FunFact: The Ox is the second of all zodiac animals. According to one myth, the Jade Emperor said the order would be decided by the ...order in which they arrived to his party. The Ox was about to be the first to arrive but Rat tricked the Ox into giving him a ride and then, just as they arrived, Rat jump down and landed a head of the Ox. Thus, Ox became the second animal. Oxen are said to be the hard workers in the background, intelligent and reliable, but never demanding praise. Oxen are honest and earnest. But this year, the zodiac also says that it will be a turbulent year for the Ox. In fact, this year it’s important for the Ox to be vigilant with health, relationships and your career! #themoreyouknow #chinesenewyear2021 #yearoftheox #happylunarnewyear

Today is a bitter sweet day. The one, the only, the legend...After almost 8 years, Ms Abigail Tiangco is leaving the nest to spread her wings and join the ranks full-time Masterbuilt Hotels (a client who joined us the same year) as their Head of HR. We are so proud of Abby for taking this opportunity and look forward to watching from the sidelines the impact she will undoubtedly make. In honour of love month here are the things we love about Abby: - her reliability - her l...oyalty - the fact she always has our back - her great attention to detail - her laugh is infectious - she makes it easy to ask all the questions - she reaches out when we are struggling - always the one to turn to when you need a good laugh - she is clear in her intentions and actions - her love for her family - always the story teller Abby - we have said time and time again this is most definitely not goodbye. But we will miss you. Without a doubt. Without question. #endofanera #employeeappreciation

Our third #hrshowandtell is February 25 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM MST and we are absolutely ecstatic to announce that we will be LIVE with THE @thisislars, best-selling author of Redefining HR. He also literally wrote the book on employment branding for dummies and leads his own incredibly successful practice, Amplify. Naturally, we’ll be talking about his new book and of course, give organizations and HR practitioners practical tips to critically assess current processes and act...ivities to identify what areas you can do differently to drive business results! Lars and Michelle will chat for 30 minutes and then open it all up for Q/A for the rest of the show! The book sold out REAL fast and is having trouble staying on the shelves. But as an added bonus, a copy will be given to the first 10 people who sign up! #micdrop #linkinbio Cc @cphralberta

It’s #Blackhistorymonth. In Canada, the theme for 2021 is The Future is Now. For organizations and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committees we offer a few key suggestions to ensure your efforts are beyond performative:... 1) Bring in speakers who have real lived experiences. This isn’t just about a $200 lunch n learn. This is their livelihood. Pay them appropriately. 2) Find stories and celebrate history beyond Malcolm X, MLK and Rosa Parks. Remember history is yesterday as much as it is dating back to the 1600’s when Mathieu Da Costa, a navigator and interpreter arrived in Canada. 3) Develop ways to keep talking about Black people beyond February. This isn’t a check off the box achievement for your company to demonstrate you are anti-racist because you talked about Black people one time in the month of February. 4) Remind your marketing and brand departments that this isn’t an opportunity to commercialize Black history themed items or to appropriate Black culture. The line between appropriation and appreciation is fine. 5) Check in with your fragility. If you are thinking: Isn’t something better than nothing? or I may as well do nothing because I may be accused of being performative, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, own it and then commit to doing better. This is the learning and unlearning part of the journey we are all on. #diversityandinclusion #antiracisteducation
