Today, on Yom HaShoah we remember Israeli/Canadian post-war sculptor, Kosso Eloul, who is buried at Toronto Necropolis. One of Eloul’s best-known works, the Eternal Flame, remains at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem - Israel’s largest memorial museum commemorating the Holocaust. #TorontoArchives #TorontoArtists #HolocaustMemorial #JewishToronto #YadVashem #NeverAgain

Recognizing Toronto and GTA history, today on the last day of Passover, we're throwing it back to Passover 1972 in Kensington Market, 49 years ago. The Toronto Jewish community has had a long, fascinating history in the market throughout the 20th century, and "the egg lady" - as Mary Hoffman was affectionately known as - was part of that story. Running a well-known egg store on Augusta Avenue at the time, the Hoffman family would have tended to a variety of customers shopping for eggs for both Passover and Easter festivities at this time. In the wake of Kensington's immense growth in recent decades, we honour the small business owners of Kensington who have left a deep impact on Toronto. #TorontoArchives #KensingtonMarket #JewishToronto #Passover #AugustaAvenue #KensingtonMarketToronto

"While recently exploring Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto, I visited the grave of William George Barker, the "Most decorated war hero in the history of Canada, the British Empire, and the Commonwealth of Nations." Barker perished during in an aviation accident in 1930 and was entombed at Mount Pleasant Cemetery on March 15, 1930 following the largest state funeral the City of Toronto has ever seen. May he forever Rest In Peace."... : hopkindesign (IG)
