Njoroge was raised by his grandmother in a remote Kenyan village. To get to school, he had to walk through jungle and dodge dangerous wildlife on the over-an-hour walk. The school was very simple and often closed down months at a time for lack of resources. By Grade 6, Njoroge found himself struggling with a 35% average from all that he was lacking. In 2013, he came to Malindi and Elimu took on his education. He is now en route to his dream. Watch this brief video clip and hear from him directly how he feels about that!

A role model for our Kenyan youth especially during trying times, Wangari Maathai, Nobel Peace Laureate 2004 and champion for the environment and for humanity would have celebrated her birthday on April 1st. Instead we celebrate her memory, her incredible achievements, her strength and the hope she inspires. April 1st marked the end of a campaign by the Wangari Maathai Foundation and the Green Belt Movement International to celebrate her 80th birthday.
