There’s no doubt that medication is essential in our everyday lives and you should never stop taking them without talking to your doctor but there may be somethings you can do at home to help. Milk is loaded with calcium that helps to form strong teeth and bones. Here are some interesting facts: 1 cup of milk = 300 mg of calcium... Your bones and teeth hold 99% of your body’s calcium. Milk contains caseins. When the caseins are combined with the phosphorous and calcium in milk it forms a protective coating over your teeth that can protect you from decay caused by bacterial acids. Drinking milk and brushing your teeth is a sure way to keep your teeth healthy.

Hope Everyone is staying safe and well during these times! It’s not easy getting used to a new routine! Am I the only one sitting here hoping that my clients are using this extra time to practice their flossing? One can dream right? ... All jokes aside bleeding gums are no joke. Healthy gums should not bleed when flossing! Take care of your smile by flossing 1 x a day and brushing 2 x a day! Remember bleeding when brushing or flossing is one of the first signs of gum disease! @ Toronto, Ontario

Dental hypersensitivity is diagnosed with a thorough consultation by a dental professional. Everyone experiences pain differently therefore treatment is only completed when a patient requests pain management. Do You experience sensitivity to cold? Heat? Pressure? The first step is seeing a dental professional and evaluating the cause of this sensitivity. We want to rule out potential causes such as caries, chipped teeth, fractured fillings, marginal leakage, etc. If this is t...he cause of sensitivity these dental conditions need to be treated in their own way. What can you do at home to treat sensitivity? Reduce your acidic exposure (read our last post for more info) Use a toothpaste for sensitivity (this is an inexpensive and effective method) In order for toothpastes to be effective you must use it 2xday for 2min. Sensitivity occurs when the nerve in your tooth is exposed, the dentin layer of your toothnhad tubules that carry fluid from the nerve to the enamel. Blocking these tubules will reduce sensitivity felt by the nerve. Ingredients to look for in your toothpaste are potassium nitrate or potassium chloride. These will help create a smear layer therefore blocking tubules and reducing sensitivity! https://www.cda-adc.ca/jcda/vol-69/issue-4/221.pdf
