Mama bear is coming along, slowly but surely, and I think that black pencil is officially done. I stayed up late to draw and watch #thespanishprincess. I'm completely caught up now. So I guess I have to wait a week for more. What are you guys watching? I like a good #bingewatch while I work.

I'm going to miss my big, beautiful window spot, but it was becoming way too enticing for the toddler who has an interest in expensive pencils and electrical cords.

Revisiting my long abandoned bears today. Pretty excited to get back at this one. Sometimes when I'm working on something for myself, I have to take some time away from it. I think because it's not for a client and there's no deadline, it's easier to let life get in the way. When I eventually pick it back up though, I wonder why I ever put it down.

Looking back at this beauty today. I'm working away on a secret Christmas commission. So for the time being, I have nothing new to show you, but hopefully soon. I've got one in mind that I want to get a start on, and someday I'll get around to finishing the black bears.

Getting ready to go home to #Alberta. Packing and shipping always makes me a little nervous, but she'll be well protected.

So, technically, i think it's supposed to be a selfie light (and maybe I'll try that out later), but for me it's an 'I now have the lighting I need to work in bed' light. Secret commission by day. Playing with watercolours by night. I can't show you the portrait I have on the go right now, but I can show you what I get up to after baby bear is in bed. I have surprisingly little of my own work around the house, which is probably a good thing, but I do want to make a few special pieces for my little one to keep.

I can't believe it's almost been a year since I started this beauty and met an amazing client who would turn out to keep me busy for a lot of 2020. #tbt I love my clients! I know that sounds like something everyone says, but you guys are such a huge part of what makes this job so fun. I love meeting new people, and hearing you tell stories about your dogs, cats, horses, and even ducks. The ones here with us, and the ones we remember. Those stories you tell me, the love that I... know you feel when you talk about them, I take everything I get from that and put it into the work I do. I know it's not even Fall yet, but I've got to say it... Christmas is coming. Hand drawn portraits make amazing gifts. Started working yesterday afternoon after I got kiddo down for nap and then a crazy storm blew in and we lost hydro for the rest of the day. Made a little bit more progress though. Getting there.
