Today is Trans Day of Visibility // Aujourd'hui, c'est la journée de la visibilité trans Today we reaffirm our commitment to advocating not just with and for ...cis women but all criminalized women, trans, non-binary, and Two Spirit people. // Aujourd'hui nous réaffirmons notre engagement à défendre non seulement les femmes cis, mais aussi toutes les femmes, les personnes trans, non-binaires et bispirituelles qui sont criminalisées. On a panel, hosted by the Dream Defenders, in June 2020 Angela Davis was asked, "Does abolitionist feminism innately rely on the binary?". She answered: "The kind of feminism I'm referring to does not respect the binary structure of gender [...] If we want to develop an intersectional perspective, the trans community is showing us the way [...] I don't think we would be where we are today - encouraging an ever larger number of people to think within an abolitionist frame - had not the trans community not taught us that it is possible to challenge that which is considered the very foundation of our sense of normalcy. So if it is possible for us to challenge the gender binary, then we can certainly - effectively - resist prisons, and jails, and police". #TransDayOfVisibility #tdov2021

Peer support is a culture of healing. As people practice new ways of 'being" through even the most difficult times, possibilities for breaking old patterns and... creating new opportunities are endless. Crisis then becomes just another word for re-defining our experience and ourselves, and instead of needing to be locked up, we can begin to break free. - Sherry Mead M.S.W Intentional Peer Support See more
