I love this age! Especially as my own babies grow up I think I appreciate the sweetness of the toddler stage. I love the babble talk, the unsteady waddle. Just so cute!

My sister found a box of DVD's that I gave her a million years ago and I've been enjoying a trip down memory lane. Back before external hard drives I used to save my images on DVD's and even back then ~15 years ago, I stored them in more than 2 places. I kept one copy at my sister's house, one at my dad's house and one at mine. I think I've always been a little overboard about backing up my images. Actually if you go back even further to ~22 years ago to the time of film I A...LWAYS got my prints in triplicates. I think my nephew Brandon was the first newborn I photographed and that was on film which was 18 years ago. My first newborn using my first digital SLR was my nephew Vincent who just turned 16. <3

I absolutely love when siblings come in for a newborn session. These gorgeous twin sisters were so patient and kindly helped me test out my lighting while their baby brother had a feed.

Last night I received the best news from the WPPI second half competition. I am completely shocked to get anything with a silver and floored that one of my images actually placed! I am also honoured to place behind a lady who is such an incredible artist, teacher and inspiration. Cass Vanhorn was the one who actually encouraged me to enter this competition. <3 What an amazing Christmas present and happy way to round off this year.

apparently I didn't have enough coffee today before uploading a video with audio. EMBARRASSING!! LOL Thank goodness for sweet friends who kindly tell me I'm an idiot haha and thankfully I was only humming in that take. In another version I was singing at the top of my lungs. So how's your day going?

I know how it feels in the first days with a new baby. I lived in pyjamas, my diet consisted of granola bars and whatever could be prepared and eaten in 1 minute. My body hurt and I didn't feel like myself. Moms will message me because they don't know what to wear. Your pre baby clothes are too small right now and your maternity clothes are a bit too big. Sometime you would just like to skip the mommy photo. You don't need to have a dress or anything special to wear for your session. Just a simple piece of fabric, you and your baby, that's all I need to capture this special moment. I promise you that one day you will look back on these photos and be glad you let me create them for you.

Thank you to everyone who responded to my model call! I wish I could have had you all in! Here is the sweet little model Ruby (4 days new), who came in today. We had a good training session for my assistant and I got to try out my new moon pillow that I sewed over the Christmas break.

This baby girl and her big sister are the smiliest babies!! Oh the baby smile, every time I have a newborn I wait for the telltale signs that a smile is coming. Nothing is cuter!
