Having a flowering plant inside will give some much enjoyment and it comes with a bonus... it's a perennial that is hearty for our area! Hellebores are magnificent as early bloomers in our gardens and indoors! Also starting to stock up for Easter with beautiful Cyclamen! Good Saturday Morning Green Thumbs! The days are longer, a little bit warmer and with that our favourite feathered friends will be making their way back to this gorgeous place that we live to enjoy our beautiful summer. With that in mind I have a great selection of locally made, locally sourced wooden bird houses. Some are just your basic but completely functional, others are a bit more decorative and fun. Then there are the true woodworkers best of the best. Considered more of a decor piece for inside the home, opposed to outside where the birds will maybe not appreciate the work that went into this fine piece of art! These have all been designed (with some input from myself) by Tay Valley Wood Works of Perth ON.

Good Afternoon Green Thumbs! If I could bottle up the scent of a flower shop...everyone could enjoy how amazing my Fridays smell when the fresh flowers come! 2 weeks...14 days or 14 sleeps until Christmas! Most of us can't be with our families at this time...but one can send flowers...plants...and even a gift through your local flower shop. But there's a little secret about the floral industry that everyone and I mean EVERYONE should know!... When ordering flowers online to send to friends and family please find a florist and order direct! All you need to do is Google "florist near... and fill in the address where you want it to go". A local florist will pop up....but you will have to scroll down to pass all of the Ads...there you will find florists that deliver to the area where you want your floral gift to go. Those ads are operated by the big 3 in online floral companies... FTD, Teleflora and 1-800-Flowers...we in the industry refer to them as "order gatherers". THEY ARE NOT REAL FLORAL SHOPS! This is what happens....you place your order...they then call a florist where you want it sent...they ask the florist to fill this order at a substantially less price then what you chose from their site. A florist will then say yes or no or (the smart florists) will dictate a price for what is being asked of them. More often than not the order gatherers will then go back to client and get more money. People usually say ok and the order is then sent through. Here's the kicker....it is then sent through the wire service and we florists automatically loose 20% of what we just fought for. That 20% goes straight to the order gatherer and whichever wire service is being used. And that little bit extra that the sender had agreed to... thinking the arrangement they are sending is going to be substantial...is just an ordinary arrangement. BOOM! So this Christmas and thinking ahead to Valentine's Day in February...order directly from a florist! We will create the best arrangement and give you the best value for your price point. And on that note... Lots to choose from in my shop. Poinsettias, Calandivas, Cyclamen and lots of Christmas inspired dish gardens! And always lots of fresh cut flowers. This past weekend Anne Perzuls daughter was married on their beautiful property south of Westport! A bouquet that can be enjoyed for long time after her big day was over was chosen! Good Friday Morning Green Thumbs.... So I have been working hard trying to get some beautiful tropicals in. With the closure of Ontario's biggest tropical plant importer, things are just hard to get. Then all of a sudden my shop looks like it should be in Central America! Lush and tropical is the only way to describe it! Stop in a for a look at some beautiful Alocasia, Bomelaids, Anthurium in 6" pots. Philodendron Xanadu, Selloum in 10" pots as well as Monstera and Sansevaria... in 10" pots.
