The Elk Story of Maureen Sather After Maureen "Moe" and her husband, Ole, retired they wanted to travel in their motorhome. They lived in New Westminster at the time and heard that the Canadian Elks Lodges provided overnight motorhome parking to members, so they joined, and were glad they did! A few years later they moved up to Vernon and transferred their membership to the Vernon Elks Lodge #45. During that time they had the opportunity to see the impact of the Lodge withi...n the community. Moe said one of the greatest moments in her life was meeting a little boy, who was hard of hearing, seeing him wear hearing aids and hearing for the very first time. Since then Moe has been actively involved with the Vernon Elks Lodge. It's wonderful to be apart of something that does so much for our community, the lodge supports many local non-profit organizations and deeply impacts the lives of others. See more

Since we can't connect in person yet, we thought we could keep in touch by sharing some member stories. We hope you enjoy hearing about how these members got connected to the Elks and what inspires them to continue to be a part of our herd! The Elk Story of President Bill McDonald One night, Bill was headed through town around dinner time and saw a sign outside the Lodge that said "Dinner Available"; in Bill's words, "It was supper time, and I was hungry." He stopped in and... was greeted with open arms. After dinner, as he was about to leave, a member approached him and asked if he would stay for a card game. That game of 'Chase the Ace' was over 16 years ago. Throughout all of these years, it has been the gathering of people that has made Bill want to continue on as a committed member of the Vernon Elks Lodge. Having a group of people to get together with, to have a good time, just makes all the difference. See more

The Elks vision is to become the most progres...sive organization, meeting community and member needs. The Vernon Elks Lodge #45 have been great supporters of our Hospice House for many years.
