I had to take a picture of this painting this past weekend when I was at the cottage. I painted it many years ago and it now hangs at the cottage because it includes our family member 'Masker ' -Our loved Border Collie', who we had for 13 years while the kids were little. I was painting a still life in the living room one night focusing on an empty blue chair and the surrounding area. Masker refused to leave that chair so I finally gave in and painted her in the chair. #bordercollies #matisse #familypets #rememberwhen.

I really like painting room interiors. I think seeing them tells a lot about the room's purpose and who inhabits them. This painting is a room in my house we call the family room. My daughter Mary calls it the Chair Room because it has many chairs, no chesterfield, just chairs. . I took a picture of my living room and then coloured over it. I wonder what my friends Henri Matisse, Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Gauguin would think about an I Pad?

When I was in Chefchaouen, Morocco in 2017, I passed these two women at a market place selling hay to feed the goats and sheep. I had to take a picture of them because I knew instantly they would become a painting. I wonder what these two women, 7648 kilometers away would think about a Canadian artist including them in a painting. This is my fourth Morocco painting and the third in the larger series. This is the north western city of Chefchaouen, also known as The Blue City", the blue is said to symbolize the sky and heaven. I was completely inspired by the buildings, painted in various shades of blue, winding streets and passageways. We were there just before their high holiday of Eid-Al-Adha were goats and sheep were brought home and kept on balconies and roof tops until the feast. I was commissioned to paint a Christmas gift by a husband for his wife who was a part of something so incredible this past summer. She was competing as one of 121 teams from 18 countries in the 2018 International Breast Cancer Paddlers Commission Dragon Boat Festival in Florence Italy. Their Knot A Breast dragon boat team out of Hamilton, Ontario came in first paddling in boat #3. If you follow me you'll know I've painted The Hamilton Globe many times. It's now sitting at #2 for tank of the year. I think our newly painted landmark should be number 1. Today is the last day. Please vote.

When we were in Morocco's blue city Chefchaouen the holy holiday Eid al-Adha was approaching. Goats and sheep were being bought at markets and taken home where you could hear them bleating from balconies and roof tops all over the city and the country. According to Wikipedia- "Eid al-Adha also called the "Festival Of Sacrifice" is an Islamic holiday celebrated worldwide each year. It honors the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God's com...mand. But, before Abraham could sacrifice his son, God provided a lamb to sacrifice instead. In commemoration of this, an animal is sacrificed and divided into three parts: one third of the share is given to the poor and needy; another third is given to relatives." This is a fun little painting with a story. Our neighbour at the cottage received this lawn tractor as a gift from his parents. It was a very special gift as his parents have since passed away. He refused to let the lawn tractor die and spent thousands of dollars to keep his gift running.(Thousands!!) Finally this past summer after 18 years it stopped running, it was it's time. He reluctantly replaced it and the old one taken for scrap. I've painted the gift from his parents and put a plaque on it so he'll always have something to look at and remember. Title-The Gift. My second large Morocco painting is done. I'm working on an art show featuring my work from Morocco. This painting is of the Atlas mountains in Northern Africa home to remote Berber Villages. Not long ago the only way to the villages was using pack mules to carry people and supplies up the steep trails. When I started I didn't know how many mules would go into the painting, there are 44. This years summer trip took me to remote Inuit villages on the eastern coast of Labrador. This is the village of Rigolet, the most southerly Inuit community in the world with a population of 300. The building with the three red doors was owned by The Hudson's Bay Company. Built in 1876 it was used to store fishing nets in the loft and warehouse supplies on the main floor until 1989. I delivered this commissioned painting today. It was for a previous customer who asked if I would paint the family farm as a winter scene. I drove there several months ago thinking I was heading to a farm to take pictures but was taken back as I arrived seeing how magical it was. The farm was painted on gallery stretched canvas using acrylic paints. 36" X "48 #horsefarm #winterscene #magicalplaces #iamanartist #hamilton #commissionedpainting
