**Hunting Policy** With hunting season now underway in our area, we would like to remind everyone that all of our properties are NO HUNTING zones. We have been working hard to get our signage back up for this year, but we have many properties to cover. Our employees work well before sunrise and after dusk 7 days a week and walking the fields and pits is a regular part of their day. It is unsafe for our staff for people to be hunting in these areas. Thank you for understanding that employee safety always comes first.

Beautiful fall morning in Hardwood Lands

We have 450 acres of sod in production at our Maitland farm on the Bay of Fundy, known for having the highest tides in the world. Blast from the past! This picture was originally taken September 25, 1965 at the Halifax International Airport and was republished in Friday’s paper. Many of our staff brought in this morning after recognizing Denny, our founder, raking in the bottom left hand side of the photo He was operating under Dennis Coupar Landscaping at that time, before our name changed to Elmsdale Landscaping in 1970.

Our cutters have been starting before sunrise to beat the heatwave we’re currently experiencing to ensure the freshest sod possible

Although our office flowers look inviting all locations are now closed on Saturdays. We are open in Elmsdale Monday - Thursday 8am-6pm, Fridays 8am-5pm, and our Dartmouth location is open Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

Canada Day hours We will be OPEN Wednesday July 1 as a regular work day, and all locations will be CLOSED Friday July 3 for the holiday. Our staff would prefer a long weekend off instead of a Wednesday, and where there are no activities or parades this year we’ll be able to work and deliver without disruptions. Hope you all have a great Canada Day, whichever day you’re celebrating

Our Dartmouth location will be open for walk in customers Monday, June 29. We have a sweet new office puppy at that location so please be diligent closing the door leaving and only 2 customers inside at one time.

We’re happy to announce that our Elmsdale location is now open to walk in customers for the first time since March. We are still enforcing social distancing and ask no more than 3 customers are inside at any given time. Thanks for your patience!

Summer has finally arrived If you’ve recently received new sod we would like to remind you how important it is to water in the extreme temperatures we are getting this week. Watering should be done in the early morning or evening when it has the most time to saturate the sod. You should water your sod with a sprinkler (not a hose) long enough until the ground underneath the sod is wet when you pick up the edges. Water morning and night if possible, until there is some rain in our forecast. Once your sod has rooted and you can no longer pick up the edges off the ground you can decrease your watering frequency.

WE’RE HIRING We’re currently looking for farm labourers and tandem truck drivers. Positions available immediately. Some weekend and evening work required. Fun fact! Our Maitland sod farm was used as a USA Air Force base during WWII. The structure pictured is 70’ long and 30’ high. Anyone have ideas of what it could be?
