Elmvale District Lions Club 03.12.2020

Covid 19 has prevented many of our traditional Christmas Events and gathering this year. But, this week, Springwater got a little brighter. Organizations and businesses were encouraged to help make this years holiday merry and bright by finding creative ways to Light Up Springwater This week Lions did just that lighting both the Sara Vista Long Term Care Home and the pavilion at Heritage Park in Elmvale. In the hopes it brings a little joy. But, we took this one step furt...her. As Lions we wanted to ensure that the residents of the Sara Vista, who likely wouldn’t see many visitors or loved ones this Christmas felt a little extra community love during this difficult year. So we strung more light in and around the Sara Vista’s back patio for their personal enjoyment. Blue lights were chosen to also promote Diabetes Awareness, a pillar of service Lions Clubs International is committed to. Lions around the world work improving the lives of those living with Diabetes and helping others from developing type two diabetes each and every day. #LightUpSpringwater #LightUpBlueForDiabetesAwareness If you want to learn more about what Lions do, message us or visit or website www.elmvalelions.ca Special thanks to Shack Shine and a few community elves who helped make this project possible. On behalf of our Lions Families, Merry Christmas from our homes to yours Stay Safe

Unfortunately we are unable to gather as a community for the annual Elmvale Lions Santa Claus parade this weekend. Santa didn’t want to miss an opportunity to visit our town . So instead , Santa will make a solo trip around town spreading a little holiday cheer. Taking the same route as created by the North Simcoe Junior Farmers. This Sunday, Dec 6th, starting at 5pm Santa will make his way through town - thanks to a little help from the Elmvale Lions Club. ... Please watch for Santa from the comfort of your own home or driveway . Kindly asked not to congregate and continue to follow Covid -19 guidelines as set out by the Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit and the Government of Ontario.

Because #KindnessMatters Kindness defines who we are as Lions. And why we serve. An act of kindness may be small and personal, or large and profound. When 1.4 million men and women come together to serve, it represents a dynamic force for good. #WorldKindnessDay

Projecs such as the Simcoe Linx bus shelter in Elmvale are made possible by community support for our fundraising initiatives, like our annual truck draw. Thank you again for helping us help others. #workingtogether #Community #Elmvale #SpringwaterTownship Photo credit Lion Jim Elliott
