It was a bunny-hopping good time! During the Easter week, Elmwood's Bunny Hop travelled to all of the Community Homes and Manor. The Bunny Hop included the Bunny Roll and the Easter Sensory Bin. The Bunny Hop concluded with an Easter slushie and a visit with the bunny from LaLa's Little Farm. The bunny was the highlight and each resident loved holding/petting and spending time with it.... Thank you to LaLa's Little Farm and their Bunny Program for making the resident's Easter week a memorable experience.

The Saskatoon & District Kinettes made some-bunnies very happy this Easter weekend! We are so grateful for the ongoing partnership and support of the Kinettes who gifted the Kinsmen Manor residents with individual Easter baskets, flowers and personalized cards. Last week the club sponsored a Pizza Lunch too! Pre-pandemic these ladies would volunteer at Kinsmen Manor monthly building special bonds with our residents while doing the crafts, activities or games that they brought with them. We sure miss having the Kinettes in the Manor! Thank You!

Elmwood is excited to be working with the Saskatchewan Health Authority to provide Covid-19 vaccines to residents, clients, and Team Members of Elmwood on Tuesday April 6th at the MacNeill Fitness Centre. In addition, we are hosting a second clinic day on Wednesday April 7th for several partner organizations in the City. Elmwood's Coordinators are working to ensure residents who need family consent for vaccines have those consents in place before Tuesday. Elmwood Team Membe...rs do not need to sign a consent form ahead of time, but should speak with their doctor about the risks and benefits of the vaccine if they are pregnant, breastfeeding, have an autoimmune disease, or are immunocompromised; these individuals will need to sign a specific consent form at the time of immunization. Each Elmwood home or program will have a designated time to come for their vaccines; we encourage all Team Members to attend the clinic at the same time as their home, even if they are on a day off, in order to minimize contact between homes. However, if Team Members are not working on Tuesday and cannot attend the clinic with their home, they can either attend during the extra staff time slot at the end of the day or contact the Manager of Health to find an alternate time. Everyone attending the clinic will be asked to use hand sanitizer on arrival, wear a medical mask while in the building, and remain distanced from individuals in other homes or programs wherever possible. Tim Hortons coffee and Timbits will be served; residents may sit at a table with their housemates/bubbles to enjoy this but if staff wish to have a treat they must find space 2 meters away from all others before taking off their masks to eat or drink. All Elmwood residents and Team Members are strongly encouraged to get a Covid vaccine, but it is not mandatory. Elmwood will be maintaining a confidential record of all Covid immunizations, and we ask that all Team Members notify the Manager of Health if and when they receive a Covid vaccine in another clinic.

Update for February 18 - 2021: Elmwood remains in a confirmed outbreak of Covid-19 at Kinsmen Manor. Snapshot: Testing of residents and Team Members will next occur on Saturday February 20th, facilitated by the Covid Testing and Assessment Centre. A small number of Team Member results from yesterday’s testing are available; all of these results are negative. The majority of Team Member results, as well as all resident results, are still pending. ... Isolation Update: As all residents are now considered recovered, Public Health has advised that Elmwood can start facilitating some out-of-room activities for some residents, in very small groups with precautions. Starting today, Cosmo is now providing programming to recovered residents in groups of 2-3 at a time outside of the residents’ bedrooms, with masking and hand hygiene. Residents who have not previously tested positive for Covid will continue having activities provided on-on-one in their rooms. Program delivery will be delivered this way for the remainder of the outbreak. Leadership Support: A plan for increased leadership presence at Kinsmen Manor is in place. Beginning the week of February 22nd, a number of Elmwood’s leadership team will return to the Manor. This has been planned in a way that will ensure that ongoing management of the organization is maintained, while keeping a small number of key Managers out of this bubble. This is necessary to ensure that all needs of Elmwood programming continues to be effectively managed. TeleMiracle 45 is coming up on February 27th and 28th! We are unable to host our annual dance-a-thon in support of TeleMiracle due to the current restrictions in place for COVID-19, however we encourage you to tune in and watch the show and/or make a donation directly to TeleMiracle. We’ll definitely all be tuned in and watching! We had a few residents fortunate enough to access funds through TeleMiracle last year and received a couple hospital beds, a lift chair and a toil...et aid. This equipment has had a positive impact on the resident’s quality of life and independence. You can make a gift on their website, by mailing a cheque in or of course you could Ring Those Phones during the live event. For more information please visit their website at https://telemiracle.com/telemiracle/ or join the Facebook Event at https://www.facebook.com/events/736847510247716.

This important partnership is intended to support relationships, community inclusion, inter-generational and inter-ability learning for children and the residents we serve. Elmwood introduced a system of Alert Zones in October to identify, simplify and communicate the current level of risk and precautions currently in place. Following a meeting of Elmwood’s Emergency Operations Committee (EOC) this morning, we have determined that Elmwood will continue to operate in the RED ZONE for the period of November 16th-23rd, 2020. Red Zone Precautions are as follows: All Team Members of Elmwood are required to wear procedure masks. Only backyard ou...tings and drives are allowable at this time. Outdoor and indoor visits are not permitted for designated visitors. No family home visits at this time. Drive-by or window visits only are permitted at this time. The next review and communication for the Alert Zones will be on Monday, November 23, 2020. We appreciate your support and consideration during this time.
