Guide to an energy boosting and satisfying smoothie bowl: In a blender, combine the following : 1 cup of 1-2 fruit options (I used mango and raspberries) a protein source (I used Greek Yogurt & Hemp Hearts)... a healthy fat (I used 1/2 an avocado) 1 cup liquid (I used skim milk) Blend ingredients together and then scoop the smoothie into a bowl and enjoy! In addition, you can absolutely add Smoothie Boosters to your mix such as chia seeds, nut butters, oats, ground flax, spinach, kale and many more! I topped my smoothie bowl with some peanut butter and PC Blue Menu’s 5-grain blend

’ - some days we don’t have time to prepare snacks and we need something that’s fast, packaged and ready-to-eat! Learning about label reading can help you choose a quick snack that’s both ! For someone that’s in the car a lot, I love to keep these granola bars on hand. A simple rule of thumb is to choose a granola bar that’s , , ! I love these PC Blue Menu granola bars because they check a...ll those boxes! These guys have 6g of fibre- that’s 24% of your Daily Value! Another trick to picking out nutritious packaged foods is to read the ingredient list. For something like granola bars, check to see if whole grains are the first ingredient and if there are a lot of added sugars. Ingredient lists on packaged foods are listed from most to least by weight, so a product will have more of the ingredients towards the beginning of the list and less of the foods towards the bottom of the list! Which granola bars are your favourite? #instoredietitian #granolabars #snacks #zehrsdietitian

Have you tried Greek yogurt? Greek yogurt is a rich and creamy source of protein and calcium. It is also incredibly versatile and can be used for so much more than simply breakfast and snacks! Here are 5 great ways to use plain Greek Yogurt: 1. Swap it for the mayo in chicken, tuna, and egg salad sandwiches or in creamy salad dressings. 2. Try it in place of heavy cream in soups and sauces. 3. Use it in place of sour cream in cooking and in dips.... 4. Replace of the butter in your baking with Greek yogurt for delicious and moist baked goods! 5. To tenderize your chicken or pork, try combining Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and dried herbs and use as a marinade! #employee #dietitian #Greekyogurt See more

We now have fresh local strawberries available in store! Wondering how to put them to good use? Here are 5 ideas to use those strawberries! Make a parfait layering strawberries, yogurt and granola.... Toss strawberries into a smoothie along with some milk, chia seeds and a frozen banana. Top waffles or pancakes with sliced strawberries for a fresh alternative to traditional syrup. Add sliced berries to a salad consisting of baby spinach (or other preferred greens) along with chopped walnuts and a few tablespoons of feta or goat cheese, then toss with a balsamic vinaigrette.
