Periods of rest/reflection/recovery are built into all cycles. Our current society teaches us that our lives are linear. We’re born, we die and we’re done. We grow from small to big. We move into the future one year after the other. We make progress in a linear fashion. However this conception does not reflect the natural world of which we are part and parcel. ... Nature shows us that our lives are cyclical. When we move from the linear conception of life to a cyclical one, we can stop being in resistance to what is and live in acceptance and flow. Self-care matters on all levels. I spent many years working on my physical body and my mind, with little awareness paid to truly understanding and my emotional and energetic systems. My understanding of self wasn’t as robust because I ignored the information that was available through being present with my emotions and energetics. Part of the shift was realizing that ALL of my emotions are valid - positive and negative. ... I don’t have to stuff my emotions down in fear they will make someone else uncomfortable or because they make me feel uncomfortable. Sitting with and observing the emotions flowing within you is transformative. Another part of the shift was simply being able to feel safe enough to feel the emotions. You can’t process your emotions in fight, flight, or freeze. There are many embodiment practices that can bring you back into a calm state for emotional processing.
