We are looking for new volunteers for our English Language Learning classes. You can volunteer to be an English Language Tutor, a Substitute Tutor, or a floater. The classes take place on Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 10:00-12:15; tutors can arrive as early at 9:30 to set up. Snack is provided on Wednesdays and everyone brings food to share on Thursdays. Classes take place at Emmanuel Community Church on 140 ave and 66 st. We are looking for: English Language Tutors: T...utors come either Wednesdays or Thursdays for 3 hours and teach the same group of people at the same level every week. We are currently looking for a tutor to teach the beginner beginner students on Wednesdays. Substitute Tutors: Substitutes are called infrequently when we need a replacement tutor. This is great if you are retired or have a flexible work/life schedule that means you are likely to be available with a bit of notice. Floaters: Non-specific volunteers are invaluable at our program. You get to come every Wednesday or Thursday (or less frequently if you like) and help set up the rooms, greet people, help new students fill in forms, help warm up lunch, do attendance and distribute bus tickets, and help clean up after lunch and after class. This is a great position if you're looking to teach English in the future or be more involved in the community but need a soft start to ease in. We would love to welcome you to our supportive, positive environment. Contact Kim at [email protected] if you’d like more information about any of the positions or would like to get involved.
