Scooter Accidents! This is probably the third scooter accident we’ve seen in two weeks. With the rise of rental scooters, we’ve had an onslaught of falls where people are slamming their face and teeth onto cement sidewalks. The scooters go way too fast and all it takes is a slight gap in the road, a rock or lapse in attention for a serious spill on the concrete. The fractures were at an angle way below the gums that the loose piece was literally dangling and it was the gu...m attachment that kept it from coming out completely. The teeth will need to be replaced with implants. To stabilize him for now, the fractured pieces were bonded back to the tooth to cover the exposed nerves and a wire splinted across his teeth to further stabilize the fractured pieces till he can see a specialist for 2 immediate implants. Be careful on those scooters and please do not test out the maximum speed on them.

Update : March 27, 2020 The Alberta Dental Association has ordered that all non-emergency procedures be halted and most dental offices have closed as a result. Currently we are only allowed to provide emergency treatment that does not create any aerosols. Any emergency treatment that would create an aerosol would require N95 masks, disposable gowns and face shields which are in next to impossible to find right now. These procedures also need to be in a negative pressure room ...like an operating room in the hospital. These requirements limits our options to prescriptions only, which we can still provide if you are a patient of record and in pain or have swelling. Please email the office at [email protected] or you can call the office at 587 351 2243 to leave a message that will be sent to the team. Patients who HAVE NOT been to the office will need to contact their regular dentist. Our office will remained closed until we have clearance from the Alberta Dental Association to resume normal operations. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. We will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so. Please, be safe and stay at home so we can flatten the curve. The sooner we can take control of the spread, the sooner we can return to normal. It is an uncertain time right now, but we will all get through this together !
