It’s a wrap! A very successful Firefighter Survival & RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) course. Teams practised mass area search, Denver drill, Nance drill and basement window evacuation prior to a scenario where they successfully rescued 2 trapped firefighters. Excellent job by Athens FD, Front of Yonge FD, Merrickville FD, Montague FD and Leeds 1000 Islands FD.

Day 1 of Firefighter Survival in the books! Firefighters from Athens FD, Front of Yonge FD, Merrickville FD, Montague FD and Leeds 1000 Islands FD practised their skills at emergency escape procedures such as window bailout, wall breach, wire entanglement and squeezing through a hole in the wall only 14x14. Job well done today!

Fee: $300.00 per student-learner... Course Number: NFPA 1021 FO II Blended-19-9 L Course Description: Fire Officer II builds upon the topics covered in Fire Officer I. There is a more in-depth look at human resources management, community and government relations, as well as origin and preliminary cause of fires. Emergency delivery topics will evolve from single unit emergency operations to multi-unit emergency operations, with more in-depth look at pre-incident planning and deployment of assigned resources. In addition, Fire Officer II covers the organization of local government and the roles that outside agencies play in assisting the fire service. The Intro to Firefighter Survival and RIT Ops course is filling up fast! There are a limited number of spots left. Maximum class size: 18 Course: Introduction to Firefighter Survival and Rapid Intervention Team Operations Prerequisite: None Date(s): Sept 14-15, 2019... Time: 08:30 to 16:00 hrs Fee: $175.00 per student Course Description: This program combines theory and hands-on applications to provide the student-learner with the necessary skills to perform basic survival techniques and a working knowledge of Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) operations as it applies to a modern fire scene. This (2) day course will familiarize student-learners with concepts and tools to develop or enhance their scope and understanding in the principles of Firefighter Survival and Rapid Intervention Team operations as it pertains to building construction, fire behavior and radio communications. Student-learners will receive theory discussions and simulated evolution to demonstrate techniques in a controlled environment. Developed in accordance with NFPA 1500: Standard on Fire Department Occupational Safety, Health, and Wellness Program, NFPA 1407: Standard for Training Fire Service Rapid Intervention Crews, and the Ontario Fire Service Section 21 Health & Safety. Student-Learners will require full structural PPE and breathing apparatus. Registration: submission of a completed application to [email protected] no later than September 5, 2019.
