Daydreaming of a bigger studio...our space is begin to fill up as Mike Fantuz Art and I continue to prepare for our fall exhibition at Ian Tan Gallery for Contemporary Canadian Art! Here is a sneak peek of what we have been working on.
Happy International Women’s Day! I am so honoured to share that I had the opportunity to be included in a book which features 365 Canadian women - and it comes out today! An exciting project connecting women of all ages, backgrounds and life stages has taken place across Canada during a year when so many have felt isolated and cut off. The result is a moving testimony of humanity published in a book titled pursuit: 365. Co-authored by 365 Canadian women who lead by example... in the everyday pursuit of success, happiness and achievement. Published by Shelly Lynn Hughs of Fresh Magazine https://www.amazon.ca/Pursuit-365-Shelly-//ref=mp_s_a_1_1
I recently had the pleasure of being interviewed by Robert Reed from the Never Call Me Again Podcast. The full episode was released yesterday on Spotify and iTunes, link below! We talked about how I came to work with palette knives, past and current work, inspiration, and more. I hope you enjoy listening!
New studio journal post about the pros and cons of working with oil paint versus other mediums. In this article I have included information about the history of oil paint as a medium, longevity, colour/blending, environmental aspects, and more! I hope you enjoy reading. PS: my winter newsletter is coming out soon, you can sign up on my site if you are interested!
Here is another peek of what I have been working on! I have been posting the progression of this piece in my stories and I hope you have enjoyed seeing it come together. Recently, I came across a fantastic article by Kenneth Chan that discusses the importance of corner stores and how they contribute to the community. Traditional corner stores played a key role in creating social connection in neighbourhoods, as well as supporting daily needs. ... So true! And even better when you can stop in for fresh spring flowers in February. 30 x 48, Oil on Canvas, Painted with Palette Knives
Days Like This, 30 x 48, Oil on Canvas I enjoyed capturing the moment where the streetlights are beginning to turn on but the sky is still light. I am eager to capture more scenes with this lighting in the months to come as I prepare for an upcoming exhibition at Ian Tan Gallery for Contemporary Canadian Art This one is on the way to Hong Kong
I am pleased to share that Mike Fantuz Art and I both have new work available at Rivers Edge Gallery Interior Design. My pieces are the three round paintings, little portals into moments in time. I particularly loved painting the tiny bouquets of flowers and finding a way to incorporate florals into cityscapes. Mike has created beautiful works of Detroit and Chicago, his experience as a pilot and air-traffic controller gives him a unique appreciation for the aerial perspect...ive. All works are oil on canvas painted with palette knives.
A look into our studio! This year Mike Fantuz Art and I are having our first exhibition together and we have begun building a new body of work for our upcoming show.
Another sneak peek of what I have been working on! I am continuing to look for beauty in unexpected places such as this delightful corner store. I have also discovered a new love of painting tiny bouquets of flowers
