M&F married on an exceptionally cold February day, hours after a heavy storm had ended. They made it from Toronto just in time, and thankfully all of the guests arrived as well after many delayed flights and trains. To think that our biggest concern at the time was a Winter storm! Christmas is almost here and I imagine this will be my last 2019 share until we are into the new year. I have been so utterly lucky to have incredible people come into my life this year with my job. I proudly call this couple friends, after our work together is complete. J+J are considerate people not only to the friends, family and all of their wedding vendors, but to themselves as a couple. They are encouraging of each other, loving and it’s inspiring as I’ve entered my own... marriage this year. We didn’t arrange an engagement shoot together so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect in their chemistry in front of a camera- but as you can clearly see, their affection during our couple’s session is utterly palpable and beautiful! December's been a mixture of updating my website/prepping the 2020 season, and a whole lot of Christmas activities. It's been a nice time reconnecting and getting a healthy distance from my office. Everyone wants to be successful with nuance in the eyes of others. I have hours, days or weeks of disappointment that spring episodically, usually after I’ve been exposed to others accomplishments. I’ll feel jealously with negative effects instead of positivity. This is a reminder that jealously should be a positive experience, tilted toward admiration and inspiration. Remember not to be afraid of what other’s can do. If you’re inspired by others and work hard, pride in yours...elf will follow. I can’t say that I’d look up to a creative who never felt this way. Today feels like a great day to share these frames, as the digital TTV shot (Through the Viewfinder) just placed 2nd in the Bride & Groom category of PWPC’s Fall 2019 contest! Thank you judges! At Maya + Matthew 's request for their wedding last September, I brought my Yashica Mat 124 along to grab a few portraits on film. While we had 5 minutes to shoot a roll, my love of film is rekindled. I wish I made more time for the film that’s been chilling in my fridge for far too long. These three frames are simply timeless, and hauntingly beautiful. I feel strongly even for the frame that’s horridly out of focus. Thank you Matthew, for your own love of film, and request to include it on your wedding day.

This will be my last post before my wedding day (THIS Saturday!) Holy cow! Every wedding and everyone are incredibly different from each other. This is largely why I love photographing weddings. From a behind the scenes perspective, every couple has varying priorities, organizational skills, time on their hands to complete tasks, and money available to hire help. I’ll tell everyone who wants to plan a wedding themselves, that you must be prepared to work on the wedding full t...ime for a period before the day, depending on how many projects you want to take on. This means if you work full time, get ready to lose sleep. My best suggestion to avoid this, is to pretend that your wedding is 4 weeks before the actual date, so that everything after is creative, but unnecessary. As well as relaxation, which is very necessary! I consider myself very hands on, and I love to take on little projects, so I took 2 weeks off before the wedding to work on creative things. As well as all the tiny things that creep up. I thought that I would have time to read a book on the side, or go for a hike to relax. While I’m getting all of my projects done, I’ve had very little time for anything else haha Hiring help isn’t just a good idea in my own humble opinion, I considered it mandatory for myself so I arranged a day-of coordinator (the brilliant le wedding mill!) I understand not everyone has the budget for extras, but I call it an investment into your happiness. Some people have on site coordinators which is also a huge help. But what if you have no one? It’s the largest regret I’ve heard from brides and grooms, those who didn’t arrange a helping hand. Remember that getting married isn’t expensive, but throwing a party is. If you’re planning a large party for yourself, why wouldn’t you want to enjoy it yourself? The cost of help is just a small percentage of the entire event. Of course, all my love and respect to those who’ve thrown smaller events that were orchestrated by friends and family. We all have budgets to respect! For now, I am signing out, I will enjoy the moment, and I am SO excited to post my Spring clients. And start shooting for my Summer clients! There’s so much more than social media for many of us, including a photography business owner. There’s so much to care about that goes beyond what we’re showing you. We have e-mails, consultations, wedding day timelines to build and approve, EDITING, packaging, delivering, researching, practicing, charging equipment. The list goes on. All of this being said. I enjoy ticking off every single box, knowing I’m closer to closing a job well done. As long as it’s well done. If my c...lients are happy, I am happy. Nothing would be more upsetting than to make someone else feel disappointed, especially if they’ve put an incredible amount of trust in choosing you, over hundreds of other choices. There are that many in Montreal alone. I’m filled with emotions this morning, as you can tell. I’ve nearly wrapped up all of the weddings and jobs I’ve shot so far this summer, ready to spend two weeks focused on enjoying my upcoming wedding. I’ve spent every second during my overtime work days making sure people are taken care of, but not rushed. I’m seeing so many jobs completed in close proximity to each other right now, that rush of results in front of me is satisfying and humbling. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished; my talented friend Tania who assists me when I need her, the team behind these huge events, and the AMAZING, LOVING, DOWN TO EARTH clients. Ashley and Karl are a prime examples. I love these two for the joy they brought to my work days and witnessing the love they brought to each other. And they have FUN, they keep it classy but don’t take themselves too seriously. Enjoy this mini teaser of their day! I had so many favourite black and whites I decided to do the entire preview the same. Nothing classier than black and white, with more attention to subtle techniques and of the course the *real life* charged emotions. Have yourselves a beautiful weekend. Many of you might feel that I’ve been in the shadows these past few months. You wouldn’t be wrong. To say the least I’ve been enjoying the space from social media (though I have been a voyeur on everyone else’s goings-on). I’ve still been working heavily for my clients, new and old. Amongst two other daunting, though exceptionally fun tasks. One being my own wedding this July. I have to say, it’s been a lot of work and given me a huge appreciation for what my clients/wedding ...planner friends do. I’m enjoying all of the projects it’s giving me. I’ll continue to take some selfish weeks to plan, something I’ve been compiling inspiration for over 10 years. Then it’s right back into the wedding season! The other task being our trip to Japan, which James and I leave for tomorrow. It’s going to be full of adventure! James and I never like to sit still on a vacation.
