The day has finally arrived! No, I’m still preggo... but today I get to officially announce the launch of my new blog! To have a platform to speak to business and life has been a goal of mine for some time now but to find just the right way to go about it, and the direction I wanted my voice to have on the subject, took a lot of nurturing, soul searching, and if I’m being frank, it took being hit with Covid to really shake what was most important out of me. Like mother, like daughter - Paige didn’t fall far from the apple tree when it came to falling in love with dance as much as her mother, Sarah. Ballet especially has had a special place in both their hearts and to share in that love together... well of course we needed a portrait to showcase that! Sarah is the owner of @explosiondancegp in Grande Prairie and I was lucky enough to be under her wing for two years when I lived there. A Ballerina Washed Up on Shore A poem for the 2020 dancer by Emily Jane A ballerina washed up on shore, No place to perform no audience to adore, Her woes shed in tears for the fish to ignore,... And a tale that was unprecedented and true. With a struggle so real, And a heart filled with fear, A light caught her eye from above. The moon was arising, Becoming a spotlight on her crying, And demanded she stood up with love. The ballerina danced for the birds, She danced for the bees, She danced for the mountains, She danced for the trees, She danced for all the little critters in the woods and the seas, And together they noticed her song. Singing along with her movements, Casting splashes when she wooed them, The ballerina realized her audience and stage had been there all along. I’m not sure how technically correct this poem is but it came to me in the shower this morning and I just had to share! This year has been so hard for dancers who typically express themselves and their art on stage. I heard you mentor other small business owners? Where can I get more information? I’m so happy you’ve been been picking up on this through the grapevine! I’ve loved receiving messages out of the blue from eager and upcoming creatives who are looking for guidance and I am so close to getting some big news out to you all! Last year I made the decision for brand and audience separation to return my photography accounts to being strictly about photography. I felt the messagin...g was becoming confusing, trying to do everything from one platform and I went to work on establishing a new foundation. I then had a wild awakening when Covid hit. The direction and pursuits of my mentorship have taken on a whole new meaning to me now. My why, especially. So I went back to the drawing board, got the insights or some wildly capable and highly talented women (who I can’t wait to introduce you to) and built a team around me to help bring a new, down to earth, heartfelt, and impactful vision, for this side of my work, to life. I want you to succeed in business, I want you to contribute your amazing offerings to the world around you, but I also want you to build a life from it FOR YOU that makes it all worth the effort. I hope that what I have coming will help reshape your thinking around your business, your pursuits, the life you wish to live, and your potential. The final stretch. My final month of carrying this little one has arrived. Some days it feels like it’s taking forever and other days I can’t believe where the time has gone. Some things I have discovered to date in my pregnancy that I was not expecting... how very different each person’s experience is, including my own... how at peace and grateful I am for my body and all it is doing to provide for us both how being active and keeping things as normal as possible with my work has been the best thing for me how much one’s back can ache in the most strangest of places how natural it all feels, almost like I’ve done this before (definitely was not expecting this...) the love and support from friends, family and community has been overwhelming. I was not expecting to feel this kind of support and encouragement, nor did I know how much I would need it slow still gets the job done and often better my dog has no clue I’m pregnant it’s possible to feel better than ever and also have really hard days uncertainty has become a friend that makes me feel alive and thankful for the present partners can have intense realizations of becoming a parent on the daily I have 5 photoshoots to go before I take some time to adjust myself to motherhood. We are very lucky that Mark will be taking a lengthy paternal leave that will help make this transition for all of us so much easier. Be it the final stage, I also have several surprises up my sleeve that have been growing along with this belly of mine that I can’t wait to tell you about! I also have some women that have come into my life who have been working bts over the past months, and also of very recent, that I’m looking forward to introducing you to Lots to expect over the coming month . We’ve been having a surge in boudoir focussed shoot requests recently and I thought it was best I update everyone on how we will be booking for boudoir moving forward. We will only be booking boudoir focussed shoots twice per year now during the course of one week. The first week will be early December, to have your images in time for Christmas, and the second week mid January to have in time for Valentine’s Day. To do boudoir really well we need to stage set ups which requir...e additional furniture, accessories, and overall styling. What we will be doing is booking 2 private shoots a day over 3 days to ensure that clients still receive their special and personalized experience but also get to access amazing set ups for their looks. Boudoir is an incredibly special, intimate portrait experience that is focussed on self love and body appreciation. At our studio, we specialize in a very soft and romantic feeling boudoir that many describe as modest yet sensual. Helping women to step into self confidence through a beautiful experience and imagery is our specialty! Right now we have a waitlist for our next round of consultations that will be booking shoots for late 2020 into 2021, this includes consults for boudoir shoots happening in December and January.
