A healthy diet is important at any age; it is especially important in the later years of our life. A diet consisting of: fruits and vegetables, lean meat or fish, healthy carbohydrates provide seniors with the nutrients they need. This, isn't always easy for seniors. We saw that, and we decided to do what we could to attend to their needs. STARTING THIS WEDNESDAY, we are proud to present Scarborough Food Sharing & Caring, serving elders in our community.... This time, our FRESH HOT MEALS were selectively chosen to celebrate the Caribbean. Donations are always welcome, and we welcome anyone who would like to volunteer their time delivering meals and groceries. POSITION SUMMARY Strategize (with Program Manager and Facilitator), design and develop creative and engaging graphics focused on sensible youth cannabis education specific to the CSSDP Toolkit. Emphasis on creating graphics that are engaging to youth and adults, easy to read and accessible across abilities. Particular focus on co-creating cannabis education toolkit and workshop tear-away materials. Must be able to work independently, with some mentorship. This is contract bas...ed work for the duration of the project (present to end of July 2022), hourly wage negotiable and based on experience. QUALIFICATIONS Have at least 2 years of experience in graphic design. Experience with youth, drug policy or campaign specific graphic design is an asset. Youth 30 and under. Demonstrate excellent team communication skills. Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling to accommodate project employees (Eastern, Mountain and Pacific time zones). Demonstrate a particular interest in drug policy reform, grassroots social change movements, and youth organizing. French/Spanish/Mandarin/Punjabi considered an asset. There are so many families in the city of Toronto that are in need of help. This need has prompted this passion to do more, and thankfully I have been given the opportunity to do so. Starting next week, under the leadership of Evangelist Janel Campbell and her team at ELMC, Hear 2 Help will be assisting with the opening of a food bank in the Roywood community. This community has desperately needed a food bank, and finally with the help of Second Harvest, and Toronto Community... Housing, we have a chance to make sure that families are fed this Christmas. There were times that we didn't think that this would get done, but we were determined to do it regardless of the blockages that were thrown our way. It is true when they say that all things work together for good for them that love the lord. Effective interpersonal work relationships form the cornerstone for success and satisfaction with your job and your career.... Since the beginning of this pandemic, Emmanual Life Management Centre, Hear 2 Help, and the Toronto Caribbean Newspaper, have banded together to feed 1000's of families across the GTA. I have had the opportunity to work with three very special women: Evangelist Janel Campbell, Lesley Roberts, and Cassandra Carmichael. Although we all work in different sectors, we have found a way to unify, and concentrate our efforts to serve a much higher purpose. I want to lay out 7 ways that we have managed to do this. 1. Bring Suggested Solutions to Problems to the Meeting Table We don't just talk about the problems, we collaborate strategies together 2. Don't Ever Play the Blame Game We own our shit. We don't pass the buck. 3. Your Verbal and Nonverbal Communication Matters If there is any miscommunication, we deal with it right away. Save the passive-aggressiveness for someone else. 4. Never Blind Side a Coworker, Boss, or Reporting Staff Person We have an active Wattsapp page, and we communicate frequently 5. Keep Your Commitments We each have a job and we do it 6. Share Credit for Accomplishments, Ideas, and Contributions 7. Help Other Employees Find Their Greatness We support and affirm each other all the time. Hopefully this can help other organizations find ways to work well together. You know, food for thought.

Join speakers Jennifer Mullan and Cheryl Woolnough for a conversation on disrupting the myth of neutrality that permeates our approaches to mental health in education. This myth of neutrality contributes to the oppression of racialized and minoritized youth in schooling and beyond. The speakers will discuss how the historical trauma of racism and colonization have impacted populations, and continue to influence our current modes of operation through systemic structures that have been left unexamined and unchallenged. The webinar will culminate by discussing suggestions of strategies to decolonize mental health practices in Ontario classrooms. The session will be moderated by Sayema Chowdhury, co-chair of the FESI 2020-21 organizing committee.
