Truth, we waste a lot of food! Plus when we waste food, we waste all the resources used to produce it & by reducing food waste, we can also reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. Another truth, we really need to fix this! Apps like @FlashFoodInc offer deals on fresh food that is nearing it’s best before date at grocery stores. #WasteReductionWeek @WRWCanada
Millions of Canadians engage in the sharing economy everyday - think ride sharing apps, libraries, rental services, online music/ video streaming and more. We probably don’t think about it, but using these services means your contributing to a circular economy. An economy where items are used again and again. #WasteReductionWeek @WRWCanada
This entrepreneur in Stewiacke, N.S has done the unthinkable - he’s put one million recycled plastic bags and 64 KMs of recycled half-inch nylon fishing rope back into the sea. But, he expects this plastic to be used over and over again, for a couple of lifetimes actually. http://ow.ly/hIVY50BRKEe #WasteReductionWeek @WRWCanada

We hold onto our cell phones for, on average 2 years. In 2019, a record 53.6 million metric tonnes (MT) of electronic waste were generated worldwide. Wowzers! That’s up 21% in just 5 years, according to the UN's Global E-waste Monitor 2020. Surely we can do better! You can pass your electronics down within your family or donate them for reuse. You can also use a local recycler who can safely manage your electronics. By recycling, you are allowing resources like plastic and even gold found inside your device to be reclaimed and reused! #WasteReductionWeek @WRWCanada
