YES!! Thanks American Occupational Therapy Association - AOTA for this post
Please remember workbooks and online modules are only one way to learn. Your children also learn in many other ways and from variety in activities. A few al...ternate suggestions are: - watch a movie and have a discussion about it afterwards -listen to a kid friendly podcast and have them discuss or write down 3 things they learned, - teach them about financial literacy - recruit them to help with household tasks - pick a recipe and have them help with making it - have a scavenger hunt... you design one for them, then they design one for you. - participate in an online yoga class - there are many kid friendly options out there - teach them a new skill - play a board game - go in a nature walk - connect with another child their age and set them up as pen pals - discuss the importance of kindness in humanity - play charades - allow them to get creative with playdoh, crayons, a craft - teach them about emotions, how they feel in their bodies, how they can productively sit with, feel and manage their emotion - practice relaxation deep belly breathing - make a vision board - teach them about gratitude - create a scrapbook of things they are grateful for - discuss dreams and goals, teach them about setting goals - have them teach YOU about something of their choice Encourage movement often, allow space for imagination, creativity and sharing of ideas. Take the pressure off yourself. Laugh, have fun & try to cherish these moments. This is a unique opportunity, it won’t last forever (even if it may seem like it right now) What other suggestions do you all have for families supporting their kiddos learning at home?
Words matter. If you’re experiencing a strong emotion, take a moment to consider what to call it. But don’t stop there: once you’ve identified it, try to come ...up with two more words that describe how you are feeling. You might be surprised at the breadth of your emotionsor that you’ve unearthed a deeper emotion buried beneath the more obvious one.
