This photo of kids playing hockey in front of the old Enderby Public School around 1930 was likely taken from the Danforth property. The school on Cliff and Sicamous closed in 1914; you can see the building is quite empty and its doors are boarded up. The people are unidentified so let us know if you recognize someone. The question is: Did the kids yell carriage instead of car? (edms photo 5532

This large cedar log (with a diameter of 7 feet 2 inches at 35 feet from the stump) was cut by Baird Bros. at Noisy Creek in 1969 and placed beside an International Harvester pickup truck to demonstrate its massive size. Bob Baird gave the photograph to Jack Armstrong of the Armstrong Advertiser, who donated to the Enderby museum. (edms#0142)

It looks like winter is here to stay so let us look at a photo appropriate for the season... This photo showing group of five skaters likely from the 1940s was donated to the museum by Muriel McQuillan (nee Hutchinson). The people are not identified so let us know if you recognize someone. Structural issues resulted in the Ministry of Transportation closing the Baxter Bridge on Nov. 9. Repairs are expected to take a few weeks. The original wooden bridge crossing the Shuswap River at Trinity Valley Road dates back to the early 1900s.... Trinity Valley settlers began asking for a bridge in the early 1900s. The first bridge, completed in March 1912, was constructed by Grant & Folkard and supervised by F.H. Barnes. It was 366 feet with a 123-foot Howe truss and a 6...3-foot King truss. In a November 2004 interview with Joan Cowan, Henry Zamis recalled the bridge crossing the river where the hand launch access is now, west of the Peacher property, with a kink or curve in the middle. The bridge needed repair after being burned by a slash fire in 1918. More repairs were needed in 1925. Construction on a second bridge started in late 1949 and finished in July 1950. A repair job started in February 1986 involved substructure work including cross ties, decking and diagonals plus driving in 32 new piles. The job was completed in December 1986. Annual repairs to the decking have been common in recent years. The latest process to replace the Trinity Bridge started in November 2010.This photo shows the bridge in 1912.
