Just so everyone is on the same page. The COVID restrictions that were changed by BC health do not change what we are currently doing for classes. Under age 22 are still permitted in the dojo within limited numbers. Over age 22 are to do classes online. The restriction changes are geared towards any adult indoor fitness classes including low impact.... As well as the restaurant restrictions towards take out only. If anything changes I will let you know immediately. Also, we will not be doing any classes on Easter Monday April the fifth. We will be at the dojo this Wednesday and next Wednesday. Remember to do your homework videos for those in the regular classes. Especially in these cases when we will miss a class or two. Cheers See more

This video by one of my favorite Karate nerd, highlights the differences in the approach to the study of self-defense in Okinawa and Japan. Based on the info he provides, our approach to the study of Karate is somewhere in the middle. We practice the why and the how equally. As well we are a small dojo so family atmosphere is as important as discipline and respect. As far as technique, we utilize both the deep rooted stances of Japanese systems and the higher more mobile, practical stances of the Okinawan systems. Be critical of our approach if you like, but it works for us.
These are challenging times folks. It is unfortunate that we cant do what we are used to doing in the dojo with regards to partner training and pad work. We will carry on by being creative and determined to get through this. It wont be easy, there's no argument there. But with discipline and determination we will overcome.... Some will need to step back, and that is absolutely fine. There is no shame in that. Some will move on to something else. Again that is absolutely fine as well. You will find your path eventually and will keep going forward with whatever you decide to do. My support and faith in our indominable spirit will be here. Keep your spirits up and walk on to whatever the future will hold. Jung Shin !! See more
