End Homelessness Winnipeg was created in 2015 to lead implementation of our city’s 10-year Plan to End Homelessness. Since that time, other Canadian cities have taken significant steps toward preventing and reducing homelessness. Some communities, such as Medicine Hat, have ended homelessness entirely. It has become clear what needs to happen for Winnipeg to realize similar success:
Join us April 7 at 7pm for this online panel discussion featuring people with lived experience and work experience - including several local Indigenous voices - sharing expertise and perspectives on the steps needed to end homelessness in our city. This free event is open to all and organized in collaboration by a few local housing-focused groups and organizations. Check it out!

IMPORTANT FUNDING INFORMATION FOR MB FIRST NATIONS (Leadership and Health Directors): Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) will be distributing the 2nd Round of fun...ding First Nations to respond to COVID-19 needs under the Indigenous Community Support Fund. First Nations communities and organizations must apply for funding with a proposal to FNIHB. In addition to First Nation communities, this funding is open to all organizations serving Indigenous populations, including First Nation shelters, non-profits, personal care homes, etc. This round of funding is to support both COVID-19 public health activities in communities (much like the COVID Reimbursements in Round 1 from March to Sept 30th) AND other projects that seek to address other COVID-19 needs. This infographic provides a summary of what is needed for proposal submissions. The deadline is November 30, 2020, as funds must be distributed by December 31, 2020. Communities and organizations are encouraged to apply early as we are told funding is limited. You can find more information at the link below: https://www.sac-isc.gc.ca/eng/1603990521589/1603990645077 Please reach out to Erynne Sjoblom who is part of PRCT if you have questions or require some assistance in putting together your proposal: Erynne Sjoblom Project Manager First Nations Health and Social Secretariat of Manitoba Cell: (204) 880-3094 [email protected] | https://www.fnhssm.com/covid-19
ICYMI: "Indigenous-led housing key to pandemic recovery" - Lucille Bruce
"Hope has emerged this month. 'With some help, we may be able to get back to, and even achieve, Mary Richard’s original vision,' Thunderbird House co-chairman Damon Johnston said"

"Housing is health care," said End Homelessness Winnipeg CEO Lucille Bruce. "We know it's going to have a huge impact, but we don't have numbers. There's too many uncertainties right now."
End Homelessness Winnipeg's September 2020 newsletter is out! Read all about it:
Strong communities are places where everyone has a safe, affordable home. No one should be without a place to stay during a pandemic, or for that matter, a Canadian winter.
Last week, the Province of Manitoba announced funding for Main Street Project for the continued operation of the COVID-19 isolation space on Sargent Avenue, as ...well as additional funding for daytime drop-in, and funding to support overnight emergency shelter beds. Mitchell Fabrics building (637 Main Street) will be opening soon! Thank you to the Government of Manitoba for this much needed funding. This funding gives Main Street Project some flexibility to transition from 190 Disraeli Freeway (which currently houses our emergency shelter and drop in services) to 637 Main Street in an impactful and coordinated way, and make sure resource gaps and capacity issues are adequately addressed. This includes planning for the coming winter months and the extreme cold weather plan. Thank you to the Levy family for providing this amazing space during emergency renovations. Very soon we intend to use 637 Main Street as our 24 hour safe space. This includes daytime drop-in and daytime/nighttime sleep spaces. Main Street Project recognizes that 24-hour safe spaces (which includes access to toilets and showers in a high needs urban area where there are none) are critical. We never close. We remained fully operational during the onset of COVID-19 and expanded our services in response to the crisis. During the month of August, our current drop-in facility saw over 10,000 visits from community members. We will continue to provide consistent services to the community and ensure that everyone has a safe place to be. Continued support from government and our wonderful donor community is a testament that Main Street Project is seen as the leader in the provision of low-barrier 24-hour safe spaces for individuals experiencing mental health issues, substance use and homelessness. Thank you for your continued love and support of Main Street Project. We are grateful. Please visit mainstreetproject.ca to learn how you can help. #mspbuildingstability #winnipeg #manitoba #covid19 #covid19chc
