This exterior renovation was recently completed . Have a look at these before and after photos. This homeowner chose to go with Royal vinyl siding, in the colour Cypress, and is going to be adding some stone detail in the front. For your free quote, please contact us at 780-993-5910.

We are so excited for Crafters to the Rafters on November 7th and 8th and we would love to see you there! This event is occurring at the Heritage Park Pavillion in Stony Plain, and it is a great chance to get all your Christmas shopping done while supporting local vendors!

Often when we remove the old siding on a house during a renovation, we discover that there were things that were not done properly the first time. Some of these things can create some big issues for homeowners. PHOTO #1: Note that the gable roof did not have any building paper on it at all! For some reason, many years ago, many siding contractors did not think that a gable needed to be papered, and thought there was little risk of water penetration due to the soffit overha...ng above. This is incorrect thinking! A gable should always be papered! As we all know, driving rains happen, and rain does not always fall straight downward. Snow could also build up on the lower roof in this scenario, and melt. With driving rain, or with melting snow, your house may be at risk if there is no paper in these locations. Never let an installer tell you that a gable does not need to be papered. Remember, it is not the siding that protects your home from water; it is the paper! Your building paper is the most important part of protecting your home from water. If the paper is not done properly, water will get in eventually. PHOTO #2: This gable had been papered (a good start), but notice how the paper is tucked in behind the roof flashings. This is not a good thing, and this could also cause some big issues for homeowners. Building paper should always be installed in a "shingle" type manner, with the upper row of paper overlapping overtop of the lower row of paper. It should also always be installed over top of, and overlapping, all flashings. This way, if there is water that is coming down the face of the paper, it is not getting in behind the flashings and entering your home. In both of these scenarios, it can take years before a problem is noticed. Sometimes a problem may never occur, and if it doesn't, consider yourself lucky! Sometimes significant damage can occur as a result of things like this. If you are noticing some water inside your home, and your shingles are not the problem, please give us a call.

It's amazing how much new siding can transform the look of a house. This customer chose the color "Aviator Green" from Mitten Vinyl and does it ever look great!
