La technologie d'Enerkem permet le recyclage du carbone et de l'hydrogène contenus dans les matières résiduelles non recyclables et la biomasse forestière résiduelle actuellement mis à l’enfouissement ou brûlés. Le procédé thermochimique exclusif d'Enerkem permet la conversion du carbone en biocarburants et en produits chimiques renouvelables, à partir de méthanol, soit le produit intermédiaire du projet. Ces produits permettent de réduire la consommation d'hydrocarbures tra...ditionnels utilisés pour le transport et dans les produits de la vie quotidienne (peinture, liquide lave-glace, plastiques et produits chimiques divers). La nouvelle usine de biocarburants construite à Varennes sera propulsée par la technologie unique d’Enerkem. Recyclage Carbone Varennes deviendra une vitrine technologique du savoir-faire québécois et canadien dans le développement et le déploiement de technologies propres et innovantes. *** Enerkem’s technology enables the recycling of the carbon and hydrogen contained in non-recyclable waste and wood waste currently landfilled and burned. Enerkem’s proprietary thermochemical process enables the conversion of this carbon into biofuels and renewable chemicals, made from methanol, which is the project’s intermediary product. These products enable society to reduce consumption of traditional hydrocarbons used for transportation and in everyday products (paint, windshield washer fluid, plastics and chemicals of all kinds). The new biofuel plant to be built in Varennes will be powered by Enerkem's unique technology. Recyclage Carbone Varennes will become a technological showcase of Québec and Canada’s know-how in the development and deployment of clean and innovative technologies.

Lors de la conférence de presse tenue ce matin, Varennes- Hôtel de Ville a rendu un vibrant hommage à feu Vincent Chornet, cofondateur d’Enerkem, qui avait initié le projet d’usine de biocarburants à Varennes en 2008. C’était un entrepreneur hors pair, un grand visionnaire. Son legs est immense et ce geste symbolique de nommer à sa mémoire la rue qui mène à la future usine se veut un clin d’oeil pour que tous ceux et celles qui l’emprunteront se rappellent qu’il a été l’inst...igateur de ce grand projet. *** The City of Varennes paid a vibrant tribute to the late Vincent Chornet, co-founder of Enerkem, who initiated the Varennes biofuel plant project in 2008. He was an outstanding entrepreneur and a great visionary. His legacy is immense, and this symbolic gesture of naming the street leading to the future plant in his memory is meant as a gesture to remind all those who will use it that he was the instigator of this great project.
