Most of Engcomp’s employees are working from home amid the COVID-19 pandemic. We are all doing our part to flatten the curve, but remain productive for our clients during this difficult and challenging time. With physical distancing in mind, we hosted a virtual happy hour online this evening using Zoom so we could reconnect as colleagues, catch up, and have a few laughs. Last week, Engcomp employees were out in the community again, volunteering at the White Buffalo Youth Lodge annual Christmas Dinner! On Thursday, December 12th, the WBYL hosted hundreds of people for their traditional Christmas dinner of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, salads, dinner rolls, and dainties. Santa always makes an appearance at this event as well to hand out presents to all kids 10 years old and under. We helped with table and chair set-up, festive decorating, food prep (including chopping a record-breaking amount of celery), serving, and cleaning up. It was a great event and we were pleased we could help out! Great work to the staff and other volunteers who helped make the evening a success!

Engcomp has been working hard all year raising money for charitable organizations in our community. We hosted multiple lunches in the office, giving our staff the opportunity to enjoy burgers, chili dogs, meatball subs, bratwurst on a bun, BLTs, chili, and smokies, with all proceeds going to our donation pot. We also hosted a trivia night at Amigo’s Cantina, where teams of 4 answered questions about history, pop culture, geography, sports, music, and other topics. There we...re a couple other events held at the office as well, including a Cribbage tournament, to raise funds for deserving charities. We recently decided what charities we’re supporting for 2019, and they are Ronald McDonald House Saskatchewan and Saskatoon Interval House. We’re very pleased to have donated $800.95 to each of these incredible organizations, today on Giving Tuesday! A big thanks to everyone on Engcomp's Volunteer Committee who helped make these events possible, and to everyone who supported them. Last night, Engcomp was pleased to attend the Saskatoon Tribal Council Partnership Celebration at Dakota Dunes Casino in the Whitecap Dakota First Nation. The purpose of this event was to celebrate the meaningful relationships that the STC and its Member Nations have formed and fostered with Legacy Partners. The evening included Aboriginal dance performers, a drum circle, a speech from Tribal Chief Mark Arcand, videos about the successful STC events held throughout the year, and the presentation of a star blanket to the Honourable Paul Merriman, Minister of Social Services, and his wife Leane. Engcomp is invested in our Aboriginal engagement strategy and is looking forward to our continued partnership with the STC and to re-affirming our commitment to the reconciliation process.
