Queen's Biomedical Innovation Team 24.10.2020

Introducing the 2020-2021 QBiT Executive Directors! Harriet Violet Chorney and Brendan Hubert will be leading the team for this next year, keep your eye out for executive team applications and more news to come!! Harriet is from Toronto and has always had a passion for STEM. She came to Queen's as a life sciences student and is now also working on a degree in mechanical engineering. She has worked in many areas including chemistry, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, and li...fe sciences. She started out on QBiT as a general member, then worked as a project manager, then a Director of Technical Operations. She looks forward to a great year with QBiT. Brendan Hubert is from Ottawa and began at Queen's as a science student. After transferring into chemical engineering in his second year, he joined QBiT where he has held positions as a general member and most recently project manager. His interests lie in the fields of chemistry, mechanical engineering, and biotechnology and has a passion for using the engineering design process to improve the lives of others. He is looking forward to the upcoming year with QBiT and all that the team will accomplish!

The Queen's Biomedical Innovation Team is hiring! QBiT is looking to hire a small number of talented, driven, passionate individuals to help with app design and development for our Post Concussion Syndrome Mitigation Project (described below)! If this sounds like an exciting opportunity for you, send your resume and cover letter to [email protected] . ... The DEADLINE to apply is Sunday, January 19th @11:59pm. We also welcome any questions you may have! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This project aims to mitigate the symptoms and negative quality of life impacts associated with Post Concussion Syndrome (PCS). The concept for the project is to develop an app that helps individuals monitor their tolerances regarding physical activity and symptoms through measuring and monitoring heart rate. The app will also provide additional information that the individual can use for activity recommendations. The target audience of the app is youth athletes, however any individual will be able to access the app. The goal of the project is to enable individuals with PCS to return to activity without experiencing severe symptoms and provide documentation for the user and health care professionals.
