Ensure Hive Future

This is a conversation with Bill Hesback about the science around ventilation and insulation when it comes to bee hives. There is a growing list of researchers and scientists (a couple of the most well known being Randy Oliver and Tom Seeley) telling us that if we need to treat to kill the varroa mites in a colony we have a responsibility to our fellow beekeepers and the species to also kill that queen. That queen has clearly demonstrated that the traits she is propagating are the specific traits that need to be removed from the greater gene pool, and; given that the drones coming from her colony don't have a father (they are all clones of that queen) we do not want her drones at the local DCA.
