It has been an honour serving and giving back to our community for more than 16 years. 2020 was definitely one of the tougher ones but with our amazingly loyal customers we have kept going strong. I work retail and customer service. I own and operate a small business. COVID has placed a huge amount of stress on us all. We face restrictions as to how many customers we can have in our establishments ( for us it’s a total of 3 in the front area). So technically people may have to wait outside. I adjust and accommodate as situations change.We incur more costs for cleaning, signage and in some businesses additional staff to monitor and regulate the customers that enter the... business. We are threatened with closure and fines for non compliance. Some employees are threatened and harassed by abusive customers.I bear the brunt of that myself to protect my staff. Some staff have total fear and anxiety of catching COVID and infecting loved ones and the decision to work just to pay their bills. Now we have to wear masks! A mask! Like a helmet or a seatbelt or a child’s car seat!As well we have to enforce that with our customers. Do we like it? Do we want this? No. Can I potentially save one life by doing all this? Yes. I will go through all this to save my elderly neighbor, a close friend, my child. Please, be respectful to the businesses that have to operate under these crazy restrictions and guidelines. I care about my staff and their families and if you choose to be non compliant and disrespectful to them and/or myself then we will be calling the authorities. I love our entire staff and our long time loyal customers and I won’t tolerate disrespect to them. Please wear a mask (it’s similar to having to wear a seatbelt) Please be understanding and patient during these times and respect one another. See more
