Lots of people are all talk but don’t really walk the walk. Small businesses are our heart and soul of our communities! Let’s collectively reduce or stop shopping from out of country retailers and begin to build our life around goods that are made, grown or assembled within our own country. Then let’s dial it down further to goods that come from your own province. As consumers we hold so much power. Let’s learn to use that power to build our communities.

Many of the experts I follow are sounding the alarm over the period of inflation that we are about to see. Some are even using the dreaded word HYPER. Most of us don’t really pay any attention to this as we expect the government and central banks will keep this in check. This time it’s different. With the unprecedented printing of money and debt, the government has lost its ability to make adjustments to reign in inflation. I posted previously asking if others had already ...seen large price adjustments in their respective industries. The responses and DM’s shocked me. There is already massive price adjustments happening in most industries. It’s only a matter of time before the public starts bearing the brunt of this. My best advice is to get your financial house in order NOW. This inflation can dramatically impact your ability to afford your daily life. Where are all the I believe in science people. Don’t ignore the science that doesn’t fit your narrative.

North America is losing its competitive lead. Our everyone gets a ribbon approach is leaving us in the dust when it comes to innovation, technology and manufacturing. Let’s teach our youth that it’s ok to reach for the stars, but show them it takes hard work and dedication to get there.

We are at our most creative time of our lives when we are children. As we age we are bombarded with messaging that shapes the way we think as we move to adulthood and beyond. We are constantly reminded that’s not how life works and it conditions us to accept limits on how we think. When we see amazing, world changing, ideas come along...... it is the result of someone deciding to cast away the restrictions of society and just go for it. Let’s celebrate and encourage creativity. Let’s allow the innovation to be unleashed. Get in.... buckle up .... and hold on tight.

This has been my personal mantra for at least 20 years. My dad taught me it was ok to dream, and dream without limits. I consider it one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever received and I tell my own boys this all the time. It is through BIG DREAMS that BIG THINGS come to life.

When we are children we believe we can accomplish anything we can dream of. As we move along in life we allow others to chip away at that mindset bit by bit. Our system is designed to herd the sheep through life with as little disruption as possible. It’s time to rock this house off of its foundation!!!!! IF YOU CAN DREAM IT..... YOU CAN ACHIEVE IT

Modeling behaviour isn’t only eating your veggies. Our kids are learning from everything they watch us do. If you really want them to have a good life then teach them what responsible money management looks like. Such an impact.

We are days away from new beginnings. It will be different , it may be stressful, it may feel strange.........but it will be GREAT! Never underestimate our ability to adapt, innovate and rise above our challenges. WE GOT THIS

Our obsession with MORE has put us in a precarious situation. How about a shift to BETTER ? Better quality, better relationships, better experiences...........

In just over 1 week, businesses will start to reopen. Yes it will be different, yes it will be scary, yes there are so many unknowns but we can do it!!!!!!!!! The business community is resilient and will find ways to thrive once again. Let’s all join hands and tackle this together. OPEN IS AWESOME

On this day I am reflecting on the person who had the greatest effect on my life, not just personally but in my life as an entrepreneur as well. Yesterday I lost my mom to cancer. I am devastated and overwhelmed by a sense of loss and disbelief. Because of the current restrictions imposed to mitigate the effects of Covid, my mom had to face this transition alone. This I’m struggling to understand and accept. . . I recently came to the realization that my mom wasn’t just m...y mom, she shaped how I approached everything in my business life too. She was my first MENTOR. I am not sure why I had not seen this before. She taught me that ethics are the foundation of life and business. She showed me how an obsessive commitment to detail help create an exceptional customer experience. She taught me to never take the shortcut in both life and business. She taught me the results are the outcome of the effort put in. She taught me that follow through and taking action are the most powerful tools we have in our toolbox. She taught me your word is your word, for better or worse. She taught me that letting your ego make your decisions only leads to destruction. She taught me to appreciate and celebrate the wins. She taught me to accept and learn from our losses. She taught me a relentless commitment to quality will never disappoint. She taught me that success was more than just money. She taught me to appreciate financial achievements and still remain humble. She taught me that more than anything...... we need to live an authentic life. . . While I try to accept the physical loss of my friend, mentor and mom, I take comfort knowing she did a great job. As parents our only role is to prepare our offspring for life on their own. My MOM delivered in spades. For this I will be eternally grateful. . . If you are fortunate to still have a mom, reach out and tell her how much she means to you. Acknowledge the impact she has had in your life. Let her know you do not take anything she has contributed to your life for granted. My mom taught me the things that my formal education did not. Turns out it was also the most important and impactful learnings of my life. See more
