Did You Know: Rough-skinned newts (Taricha granulosa) are found in BC forested areas close to wetlands, ponds, slow-flowing streams and other shallow aquatic habitats. These newts are the most poisonous amphibian in BC, producing a powerful neurotoxin. When threatened, they raise their head and tail to show their bright yellow-orange belly as a warning of their toxicity. Fact source: canadianherpetology.ca.
