Enviro Span is now being utilized for a Hiking/Biking trail in the City of Lethbridge river parks system. It allows the trail to continue uninterrupted over a creek, rather than having to cross a narrow and rickety bridge that has now been removed. In addition, The Lethbridge College Aquaponics Centre of Excellence is conducting research on the site to determine the effect of light loss under a culvert on fish and periphyton use. They have also taken water samples from the creek before and after installation to study the impact of Enviro Span on the stream. The project is further providing a long term, outdoor classroom for College Environmental Science students.
Enviro Span has now been used to reclaim poorly drained property while maintaining natural stream bottoms. These structures will remain in use for many decades.
The most recent new application of Enviro Span is for covering long spans of drainage under residential developments. Enviro Span is both very strong under deep burials and extremely long lived compared to older culvert materials such as galvanized steel.
Enviro Span is now being used to protect other types of pipelines in very deep installations. The ability of the product to form a soil arch composite structure in deep burials, provides protection for steel pipelines. Steel lines can now be buried much deeper without fear of collapse after movements in the surrounding fill.
Enviro Span is being used in applications that require a structure that will survive movements in surrounding soils. While steel and concrete stream crossings will often fail under these circumstances, Enviro Span will adjust and form an active soil arch composite structure and thus survive and continue to function safely.
