Guard us then from shutting down our empathy and walling off our hearts because of the glut of unactionable misery that floods our awareness. Every Moment Holy Vol. 1. When I first read this sentence of a liturgy written for those who are Flooded by too much information, I immediately felt seen. It’s hard to be steadfast in our faith, isn’t it? It’s hard to not shut down when we are being inundated by news of terrible events all while coping in isolation from this pa...ndemic. But we were never meant to bear these burdens alone. As we are in the middle of Holy Week, preparing for Easter Weekend, remember to look to the One who sacrificed His life and took on our burdens forever. It is through the Cross that the power we give our burdens diminishes. Take heart friends. We are not meant to do this life alone. I hope this liturgy can provide some language for you to describe the feelings of some of your burdens and help you cast them upon the strong shoulders of the one who alone is able to bear them up. What’s your {divine} comfort food? // Last time, we shared about the joys of comfort food, sharing and serving others. In these times, especially in the past week, I can find myself craving not for comfort but junk food. It’s the stuff that I know is good for a moment, but where I’m going to pay the price later because of its effects on my body (not going to go into details!). Instead of something that is balanced and hearty, I stuff myself with junk food because I’m hoping ...that it’ll alleviate a deeper discomfort and longing in my life. This is where Psalms 63 resonate more than ever, especially since it speaks to our current times of ‘wilderness’: A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water. How are your cravings lately? And is it being fulfilled with {divine} comfort food?

Though the pandemic has changed our missional engagements, God is still on the move and is still working. Raeleigh is an incredible leader who was apart of our first Justice Semester cohort.
