With all the COVID regulations changing day by day, it’s definitely intimidating for people to be planning ahead for their celebrations that are happening later this year or even next year. . It’s very easy to put all plans on hold as we wait for things to unfold. But the kicker there is that we may be waiting for a while before something changes. . Which is why we have structured ourselves to be able to reserve dates for clients with a retainer first, with the ability to cha...nge quantities and design much closer to the date. . We typically schedule a follow up design meeting about 2 months prior to the wedding. By then, we should have a good idea of how to move forward based on what’s happening at that time. . .... . Look, I love designing flowers. Popping on a jam in my studio, throwing on my apron and creating beautiful things. It’s no wonder that floral designers were named one of the top 5 Most Calming Professions by Forbes one year. . But I don’t enjoy setups in the summertime. There, I said it.... Not because I was in nasty settings and not even because any particular setup was particularly challenging. . Only because I don’t respond well to heat. In fact, I hate heat. I’m usually the one that has a fan on blowing straight at my face and inside temps set to 23 degrees or below in the dead of winter. . But the show must go on. Even when I set up a wedding on the Toronto Island in unseasonably hot conditions (probably close to 35 degrees that day!). With no shade and several stints up and down the ladder, it was a recipe for disaster. . When I got home, the room definitely spun. . But I was still back the next day to do teardown, despite my feeling like shit. Thank goodness for husbands, am I right? .
