Touches Fire is alive and well! A bit of the story.. I was not the original creator of this bow, but I will say it's one of the most incredible bows I have ever had the honor of working on. This bow was almost certain to have succumb to it's wounds years ago, being badly burned, cracked, then developing long checks from back to belly. The situation was the worst I've ever seen in a bow, and enough for it's maker to step away. ... Days turned into months, months into years, time stepped in, and 'what almost was' became a memory. But something always told me it wasn't over. That it's time had not yet come and that the medicine put into this bow by it's original creator was not lost. So the bow lay sleeping, traveling with me, dreaming of things to come and of what might be. Until finally one day, it whispered in my ear. "Now". Any woodsman can cut a piece of wood into a bow and loose an arrow. Creating a bow of the old ways is a different animal that requires patience and listening. Somewhere along the path you realize that you are not creating the bow, but the bow is creating you. Forcing you to look within, see the world through different eyes and become more aware of a connection that exists between all things. To experience this skill in such a way, is a journey and an art. To take the bones of a tree and breath new life and spirit into them, that is a gift.
