"the truth is that God’s commandments are not burdensome (1 John 5:3) and his greatest commandment does not command our performance, but our affection. Isn’t that wonderful? Jon writes, God is most concerned that we experience the joy of love, not that we merely jump through behavioral hoops. Obeying God will not be the death of our happiness, but the death of everything that keeps us from real happiness." https://www.desiringgod.org//what-the-devil-doesn-t-want-y Thi...s is the truth that we need to talk about, and this is the truth that is the foundation of missions, big or small, near or far, to bring truth and true joy to the hearts of men and women. Let's run this race, with love for God and love for our neighbors!
Christmas is another time to be reminded of our mission to make disciples of all nations, by entering the lives of the people that we are leading, and allow them into our lives, as we are led by Christ. And Christmas itself is a mission, that the Lord Himself came to become one of us, to bring us redemption and the forgiveness of sins. It won't be easy, it will require sacrifice, and it will be worth it!
The all-surpassing glory of the Lord should be our greatest desire for any and all missions, locally and globally.
"The Bible is not the basis of missions; missions is the basis of the Bible." Ralph Winter
"In our lifetime, wouldn't it be sad if we spent more time washing dishes or swatting flies or mowing the yard or watching television than praying for world missions?" Dave Davidson
